the engines are designed to run on standard unleaded (not premium) which is 91 octane - in my opinion running on premium (there has been a debate about it) is bad unless your have re-jetted/tuned the bike for premium, as the bike is carburetted, running premium doesnt offer any benefits for the engine and will just cost u more :p

I agree with dan i put premium in my bike when I first got it and then changed to regular and didnt see any diffrence except in the pocket, I do put 30ml of carbi cleaner in every 2nd fill up

I seem to remember the regular RON rating for fuel in Japan being ~95, therefore when the bikes are brand new they are designed for ~95 RON fuel. After they have been in use for a little while obviously wear and tear occurs in the fuelling system meaning it will run richer than was intended from the factory. Therefore once the bike's are in use in Australia with on average upwards of 20k-30k km's they are in theory better suited to regular unleaded (91 RON) fuel.

The simple answer is run the bike on whatever fuel you had in the tank when it was last serviced/tuned as that will be the fuel that the bike has been tuned for.

you don't need to use carb cleaner that often, but hey whatever fills your boots right. It won't harm your carb to use it every 2 months, the trick is getting your engine up to operating temp and get some solid revs through it and try not to do too many short hops at low temp. Be good to your bike and it'll be good to you.

The thing most likely to clog your jets is rust from the tank. Carby cleaner isn’t going to do a whole lot to solve that problem. It’s not going to hurt though.
