I just bought an FZR that has pitted fork legs which made the fork seals leak. Do any of the more common FZR's have the same forks or at least the same tubes?
As far as I know there are 2 size fork in the FZR 250 - The 2KR are smaller diameter than the 3LN series
You can just get the fork leg's dipted in chrome and that will fix that.I need to get that done as well.
don't you have to hold a certain diameter? It seems that re-chroming isn't that exact. I would be worried that the tube would no longer fit within the bushings
As far as I know the chromium plating is very thin and does not fill holes or chips. It has to go on to a good finely ground surface.. the filling of holes is usually done with a thicker layer of copper plating that is then polished back in the same manner as you would do with body filler in a dent in car...
I've had a lot of stuff dipped in some of my other restorations. Triple chrom is what most places do to get a good finish. First copper, then nickle, then chrome. By the time you add up all the different layers, you have a much thicker tube. The stock tubes are just steel then chrome.
