Hey Guys,
Been watching the site for a little while, and now I've joined. Lots of great info here! I'm kind of interested in hearing from other 250 riders in Ontario, Canada. My baby is in the shop getting tuned up right now... a nice Japanese import.
Also, would anyone be interested in possibly starting a video community for FZR 250's? Perhaps something on Youtube (blah, I know, I know) or Live Video? Let me know if this is already going on. Take 'er easy, lates!

p.s. Found this URL on here, great for historical reference:

hehe I think you'll find that link was created by one of the members of this forum (Dave).

Welcome! i'm not sure of any video site for FZR's, but if you create one, let us know. I know there's a few videos floating around in the forums here somewhere

Thanks Casso. With regards to a 'video site', I will try to make an FZR 250 section on my recording studio website. This is after I have a chance to sit down with my webmaster for finaliztion of webdesign. Will take some time...

In the meanwhile, we should pollute the 'inter-tubes' with as much video of our rad bikes as possible! See ya,

Hey metralla,
Good to hear from you. I'm noticing we are few and far between on this side of the pond. On the other hand, our bikes get all the props! Actually, I just came home from the shop and it was sad to see the front end in pieces. As you said as well, I'm in the process of getting it tuned it up... has to be done. Mine is a 2KR from '89, and its the 'silky white' paint scheme, hence, my handle '3HX1'. Dave has a great website with lots of info. Also, I read that 'macka' lives in Ontario, so good luck finding FZR's in Michigan! I will try to post some pics in this thread, and/or somewhere else. Take care,

<---- My bike is identical to my avatar, actually.

Ive got an 89 3ln exup. Its the pearl white, red and blue. first year of the aluminum frames. Unfortunately, my fork legs are shot and need replacing along with the seals. I have to finish up my RGV500 before I can start dumping money into the FZR.
As far as I can tell, there are only a hand full of us guys, and most are in Canada. The down side of that is everyone will assume its a 400 or 600....until they look at the tach.

Great, all I need is the cops thinking its a 600... guess that is what defensive driving is for.

Also, feels like I'm the only one not doing the work on his own bike!

If you have the money and a qualified mechanic near you, then that's the way you should go.... less stress. Myself, I have too many projects that require my money, and all the mechanics by me are hacks and wouldn't touch this bike anyway. I've been working on my own motorcycles for 25 years now. It also helps that I was an aircraft mechanic and I am now a diemaker (I get to make all my own shiny thingys on the lathe and mill ) But I am also totally stressed. I have to have my RGV Gamma done by the middle of June for a meet, I want to get the Fizzer up and running, My pontoon boat needs a re-decking, etc, etc....I really need about 48 hours in a day

I might have to disagree with you slightly on the stress level, M66, hehe.

Not being able to contribute to the job at hand creates it's own level of anxiety, especially since I am accustomed to getting things done on my own.

I must say though, you are a busy man!

*UPDATE*

First season of riding has come to a successful end. Friday, Nov 30, was my last ride around town. Temperature was below 0 degrees C, but nice. Rode the bike to the shop for heated storage as well. Here are some highlights from this year:

Bike
- new NOS forks, new NOS clutch, talking Japanese girl in my alarm system (bonus)

Me
- put 5000 km's on the road, no scratches bumps, or bruises
- top speed acheived 180 km/h on Nov. 4th
- illegal lane change violation issued - 3 demerit points

Next Season
- new tires & track time

Thanks for reading! Ride safe and crank it.

Luckily our season is 12 months long in Tasmania. I have had my current bike 12 months.

And I have done 9000km

similar top speed (once)

A conditional speeding ticket (dont lose the points or $ unless I get caught speeding again in the next two years)

A dent on either side of the tank, one from starting the bike and it rolled forward when I walked away to get my jacket, the other from when the grandkids climbed on the bike and pulled it over.

Two new tyres - this is the picture of my crappy old Dunlop D220 rear - Gone to Michelin pilot roads now.
