    every time i take my 3ln for a ride it goes like a rocket for about 1km then starts to just die in the ass end no matter wat i do clutch in revs does nothing roll starts do nothing so i sit and wait thinking wat am i going to do and after 2-4 mins later it will start again and run fine for another km then do it again. have just recently checked my float levels and they are about 1cm above the float line on the carbie bowl will this be my problem and as my bike has no fuel pump it would be quite easy to adjust the levels off the bike with tank above carbies?

    Ah u mean after 1km the bike turn off and never turn on ?? or turn on but sounds like not enough fuel it starts like abnormal running ?? i think its bcoz of the absence of the fuel pump its like ur depending on gravity force to push fuel inside the carberatures i dont think its enough coz the position of the carbies and the engine of the fzr is not vertcially its not vertically its between horizontal and vertical so fuel is not able to enter breifly the carbies without a pump even if u connect the tank in a way that the fuel tubes direction is from up tp down it may enter slowly so i guess whats happening to u is ur consuming fuel more than the input fuel the engine is off because fuel is getting over after a while of ride
    when u turned it off the carbs will start filling back then it start normally when u turn it back for a ride will get empty back due to unsuffecient amount of input fuel u can check it by one thing try to drive the bike calmyly at low rev and then by high rev and if u noticed at low rev and calm drive it spent more time to turn off means its this problem coz at low rev and straight roads u consume less fuel anyway i hope u get something from my terrible language coz its my third langauge <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D --> hope i helped byee <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->)

    its not like its playing up or anything it just looses power and stops really boogy aswell like it is flooded but yer i have been told you dont need a fuel pump you just have to tune your carbs to suit so yer not sure wat to do waiting on a brass bolt for my carbies then will lower float levels and see wat happens i guess.

    It sounds like it has a fuel restriction from the tank to the carbs, and uses up the fuel in the carb float bowls and stops. When you wait a while the carb bowls fill up again and it starts again.

    Check the fuel filter and fuel flow rate then replace the fuel pump as well. It would not have a pump if it did not need one. No amount of bodging the carbs will compensate properly for incorrect or varying fuel pressure.

    it has no fuel pump on the bike i have been told that the 3ln's dont need one due to the angle of carbs and where the fuel line comes out the tank. could this be too much fuel? or it is deffently the problem not enough fuel?

    quick experiment... Try opening your fuel cap when running. This bike has a vented cap, and if the vent becomes clogged, vapor locks. It will give you the exact symptoms you have described.

    Yamaha designed the bike to have a fuel pump. If you don't have one, then we cannot help you get your bike running as best it can until you do.

    Get it through your heads people. The bike REQUIRES a fuel pump. It's in the manual, it's in the parts list, and for gods sake it is on all other FZR's 400 -> 1000.

    sorry man no need for the anger jeez anyway i will just say **** it there like $200 to $300 for one so no pump will do..unless someone got a cheap one but yer not that rich.

    Either buy a second hand pump from a bike wreckers or get a new one from one of the autoparts dealers like Autobarn. I remember a member getting a generic bike fuel pump from one of these parts places for reasonable money ($50-60) previously.. Just make sure the pressure output rating is around 3.5PSI (25kpa) which is the original pump pressure. Some of the automotive ones push out at 7PSI which may cause problems with floats not being able to close off properly and then flooding.

    This is not anger speaking. more of a stern statement.

    Buck up and pay the bill. I don't know who told you that motorcycling was inexpensive. It isn't and never will be.

    I've had my bike for almost 3 years now. The only thing that I HAD to do to the bike in that time frame was repair the transmission (engine rebuild $1200 USD). Over that three year span I have invested almost $6000 USD in replacement/spare parts, tires, gear, and maintance.

    If something on my bike breaks, I fix it, something on my car breaks I take the bike. In that same span, I've spent maybe $500 USD on my car (which needs about $6000 worth of repairs).

    fair call fzr dude if you cant afford to maintain/ fix it dont have it.
