    Hi all,
    I have recently bought a 1991 FZR250 3LN.
As this bike is 2nd hand I am going to be replacing all the fluids as well as putting a few extras bits on. <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->
I was just wondering if people could let me know what sort of fluids and parts, brands they use, I am looking at replacing:
    Brake fluid and pads
Oil (complete change) and oil filter
    Coolant (complete flush and replace)
Fuel system (complete flush) and fuel filter
Air filter remove standard and replace with K&N (will this need a change in jet?)
Front and Rear Sprocket and chain.
Possibly looking at tyres aswell the current tyres are dated 2005 and seem a bit hard, however I am not sure if they are just a hard compond as once they are warmed up they don't seem to bad.

If there is anything else people would recommend to do while I am at it please let me know, otherwise any suggestions that you can offer in regards to brands that you have tried and found good or bad, would be fantastic.
    Thanks
    Nathan

    Gday welcome to the forum.

I've got to admire a bloke who thinks similarly to myself- it seems all of my mates will happily buy a car or bike and leave everything in as it is. Nothing worse than not knowing when the last fluid change was!

This would be my list, but fortuately there is a fair bit of experience here in different brands/ materials

pads- HH sintered. Brake fluid- no brand in particular, just an average brand not too cheap of the correct rating

Oil- PM lubricants, although most people seem to use Motul. Filters just genuine Yammie. I have been waiting to get my hands on some I have read abot- they filter by way of a washable stainless steel gauze. Very sexy idea.

Coolant- everyone I speak to from my old man to a few bike mechanics say that Castrol concentrate is the go.

Fuel- PM 800 (by PM lubricants) I have pulled apart a few intake systems and they gleam after a couple of tanks. Filter- anything common.

Air filter- not sure if K&N are available in the Fizzer, as I looked when I still had mine. I believe (?) unifilter or similar are the go unless you want to ditch the airbox. Really dont know if rejetting is required- but probably best

Sprockets best chosen when you are used to the bike and figure out where you want the power & torque. No idea about brands though. I liked Motul chain lube- it was clear and seemed to be the go

Tyres just like sprockets really are personal taste. 2005 aren't that old, maybe get some riding style together and figure out if you want softer. Bigger bikes I Lurve the pilot powers because they stick like **** to a blanket, and they turn really quickly. Dont think they are available for the fizzer though.

I would strongly suggest playing with fork oil weights and adjusting the rear suspension. Even considering looking at aftermarket if you can afford it. I cant, but maybe you can!

Hope this helps some and good luck!

Cheers Brad, some great food for thought.

I totally agree with you in regards to not knowing the service history of a vehicle. Anything can be written in a service manual but if you change everything ASAP you know exactly where you are at and what's going on with your ride.

    Thanks
    Nathan
