So the bike shop Replaced my swing arm, but reckoned they couldnt match the paint exactly, bull, so i decided to have a go at polishing the swingarm. First i Sanded all the paint + primer off with an orbital sander and some W&D 240grade (i needed heap as the grit wears off so quickly). Actually i needed to change sheets about every 45seconds of sanding or so!! I used a detail sander to get into the nooks. Second i started working my way through the next 3 grades of wet and dry 600, 800 and 1200. I found if i ran the orbital sander across the metal in one really slow motion, it would reduce the pattern left in the metal. Finally i polised the metal with auto-sol, but i suppose any good metal polish would do. I just put a cloth under the orbital sander and rubbed it on! My job was a rushed one, and took me about 2 hours to do. But i imagine u could get better results with proper buffing wheels and professional grit mixtures. javascript:emoticon('') Here she is-
