Ok guys after much complaining im actualy going to do something about the dreadful headlights on my bike. They are currently H6 35w and i cant see anything while riding at night so i went and bought a new set of H6 65w BUT the base is way to big. So im guessing my bike is in need of "very $$ globes" so i would like to know if any one has done or could help me with a project i would like to try.

I would like to know if it is possible to get a new/different headlight units that would support and H4 but will still work in the 3LN-1.
    Any help would be appreciated...

Go to an auto electrical shop and see if you can get some replacement H4 5 3/4'' (146mm) 12V 100/55W High/Low Beam Halogen Headlamp Conversion Kits like these

I think these are the correct size, just check..

Ok Dave thanx mate. Any chance you would happen do know what type of mounting brackets i would need? s it something i can just go rip of a car at the wreckers or are they a specialised item? with the metal plugs that currently connect the h6 globes to the wires could i just replace them with some from a car that fit the h4's?

I am sure that you would get the plugs from the wreckers and re-wire but the headlamps would have to be a hit and miss affair.

As for mounting, I am unfamiliar with how yours are mounted. It would be up to you to judge whether its going to work or not.

Is it possible to get a H4 lamp and cut the two bottom tags off and see if they can be made to fit.

I have to ask this - I am sure my 2KR had H4's in it (even though a previous owner had them in upside down and going to hi beam made the lights shine lower <!-- s:-? --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_Eyecrazy.gif" alt=":-?" title="Eye Crazy" /><!-- s:-? -->) Are you sure that your bike does not take h4 lamps ?

Well iv ordered my conversion kit and have sized up all the little mods and stuff ill have to do, a little bit of work but its going to pay off. My globes atm are like a tiny version of the h6, they are the same but like 1/3 of the size on the metal base and the discussion i had with my unlce who works for yamaha in QLD has made the choice to go for the conversion kit look like an olympic gold medal as they want some stupid amont for ONE tiny little 35/36w globe.

Any chance you would have or know any one who has a pic of the 2k model headlight unit, just so i can see if there is a difference and to get an idea. If the conversion kits fit straight into a 2k then do you recon a 2k headlight unit would work and fit in the 3ln-1? Should'nt be to different right?

Thanx again for the help dave.

im guessing so mate, ive seen one of the newer ones wrecked and they seem to still use the twin lights but they are sorta internal inside the bigger light.

Anyway with my headlight conversion that was a no go, in the end the kits was 5 1/2" and the fzr lights are actually 5" so im still up poo poo creek. Anyone know if the 2kr model useds h4? If so is it possible to just swap my 3ln light unit ova 2 the 2kr model (im talking bout the black thingy that houses the lights)

high mate, Allthough im not entirely sure what your goal is.

I know that is possible to remove the steel locator plate from the headlight reflector and glue on a h4 locater plater and retaining spring from a generic(broken) headlight.

I have seen it don a a fair few dirt bikes and really isn't that hard.
just be careful when removing the origional plate, because it is possible to crack the headlight.

caution with running such high wattage globes. I ran 55/65's in one of my setups and had issues getting the power through the stock loom. After i modified my loom it was a bit better and surprisingly i didn't have any problems with the headlight switch melting.
