Hi everyone. I'm back again after the garage almost destroyed my fzr 250 1986 2kr. I have a new question, the fzr now will start fine, and seems fine, doesn't over heat however she also won't rev above 5500rpm without cutting out ? i thought it may be the carbs but wondered what you think it maybe? Thanks Paul
is that underload or neutral? mine was guttless underload, major flat-spotting until i discovered my exup wasn't even in there, i sorced a second-hand one, cleaned, fitted and adjusted the exup now see runs purrs like a wild cat...
Paul, seeing you bike has been sitting for a fair time, I would have to say that you need to clean the carbs/fuel lines/fuel filter as they may have gummed up.. I don't think your bike is an EXUP model? is that correct?? Check for birds nests in the exhaust pipe
Hi its not an exup your right. could it possible maybe the carbs need adjusting? What sort of carb cleaner would you recommend?
I don't know but I believe that it is commonly available at supercheap, repco, autobarn , etc.. Do a search with the search function for the carb cleaning posts on this site as I am sure I have seen references to products.
i use thinners to soak the removed jets ,and carb cleaner for the internals ,,a sonic tank is meant to be the best thing but is a farmed out job so not cheap!
I take it you mean general purpose (lacquer) thinners like that I use for spray painting. Never thought of that! We have an ultra-sonic cleaner at work for cleaning electronic circuit boards (and other things ). Interesting thing is that you only use water in it as the cleaning fluid.
I,ve bought two full engines i should be getting in the next 2 weeks. So i will try changing the carbs first if it doesn't improve then i may swap the engines? What do you think
