Hi people, Just after some feedback... I have just bought my first bike (FZR250) and today was the big day..my first ride.. however i was having trouble when taking off that if the revs dropped i couldnt get them back up again, even if i pulled the clutch in and twiseted the throttle the revs would keep lowering and eventually the bike would stall, i would have to move over put it in neutral and start it up again...in the end i got around it by using high revs on take off...all i want to know is that normal that i would need to give the revs a bit of stck on take and ride the clutch?? or am i riding it wrong?? i was doing the whole, fast idle, ease off the clutch and brake but until i started to give the throttle some stick i kept stalling it.... so yeah just after a bit of feedback from all you people who have been riding a LOT longer than me thanks

Here is a video I took when I had mine (2KR) which will give you an idea of how the bike should ride and what revs you will need. I was riding through town so you get a good appreciation why I did not speed (much)

It weren't in bad nick but I could not do that when I first bought it. The exup cables were broken and the exup valve was wired fully open. It was not too good at taking off then.

Pesqueezo - not sure what model you but '88 onwards have the exup valve so make sure it set up properly, there are lots of posts with pictures on how to do that.

Here is a post on the same subject of stalling

Thanks for all the info Dave ... when i get home from work i will have a read and check out the bike to see if i can trouble the problem myself...if not i'll come back......its either a 95 model on the rego papers.. i only got it serviced yesterday and picked it up and went str8 to the RTA and rego'd it then went for a ride.... when the revs were dying i would pull the clutch in and just give the throttle heaps to try and bring the revs back up, but even with clutch in and full throttle it was not even sounding like coming back up...it almost sounded like it was running out of fule but i had a full tank, but it sounded like it was being starved of something.

Good work Dave,
Did your bike have a stock exhaust, because it sounds brillant. Reminds me of ghostrider and sound of his bike. My bike sounds below par, and this could be because of the stock exhaust on it. Thanks for the look at tassie as well. What sort of camera did you use?

Ok... now i have another one.....are these bikes (mine being a 95 model) reknown for not liking the cold? as thismorning i went to ride to work at 530...and normally the bike kicks first go, but this morning i stood there for about 10 mins before it kicked....then tonight coming home same prob?? also to boot i think i ran out of fuel on the way home...the bike would kick, but was struggling to idel, i couldnt rev it, and when i let the throttle off it would stop altogether...i checked petrol and it looked to be about i suppose a quarter maybe a tad less...(yes i even had it running on reserve) so i went to the servo and filled up and away she went again fine?? to me(and i am no expert on engines or mechanics) it seems as though maybe it is having a blockage or struggling somewhere...i dont know.. cheers guys(and gals)

This is a picture after I repaired it after a little off. It had a Remus pipe. You could poke a broom handle clean thru it. The exup actually quietens it down unless you are up in revs..

If you are talking about the stills in the other posts I use a Canon Powershot A550 7mp but the pics are compressed a bit to make them download quicker.

The video on that shot was taken with a cheap E-bay digital video camera that records 320x240 at 25fps direct to SD card in ASF (same as WMV) format at about 800kbps quality. Over 6000rpm the audio got raspy due to engine vibration conducted thru the frame and not having rubber mounts on the camera.
