Hay guys Iv just bought a 1987 2kr fzr250 really stoked with it,it runs mint as real tidy condition for its age.The only thing Iv noticed wrong with it is every time I go for a ride when i park up I notice a small amount of battery fluid has dripped from fluid overflow hose. When I say small I meen about 1 maby 2ml.Guy at Yamaha shop told me it sounds like the rectifier/regulator overcharging while riding, does this sound right and if so can it be fixed without replacing rectifier/regulator?Thanks

Is it battery fluid, or engine coolant water from the overflow/fill bottle under the seat???

sounds like he's having a lend mate, the regulator/ rectifier if over charging will not produce excess battery acid.

OK - then the next thing to do is get a hold of a multimeter and measure the battery voltage. At idle you should get around 11.5 to 12.5 volts DC, and at around 4,000 to 5,000 rpm expect 13.5 to 14.5 volts DC..

Tell us what readings you get??

Hay just done what you said with multimeter, reads 12.5 at idle and 13.7 at 5000rpm.

That looks pretty normal for battery charging. I really have no idea why it should weep at those levels, but only a guess that the battery is jiggered.
