i live in england so no one will help me, garages dont like imports... not even my local yamaha dealer (who is normally brilliant) so i have the fun fun task of learning my way around the electrics of the 3ln myself. =[ the first problem i got was that the starter motor stoped. compleatly. but that wasnt too much of a problem.. just embarrasing having to bump it infront of other bikers. when i press the button theres nothing at all. it isnt the switches as iv checked them all and thers nothing wrong with them. plugs are all new. only thing i havnt done is take out the actual starter motor to see if it works on its own as i have needed to use the bike. and last week it decided it didnt like fuses anymore. blows them all the time, usally in low revs. i'll be fine all day out and about then i'll slow down in trafic or somthing and theres a pop and it dies. oh and i cant get hold of motol oil. anymore. any other brands that are the same mix so i dont need to drain it all? much appreciated.
stator coil is on its way out more then likely, that or a bad earth. The coil will produce pops of current and a good ground wire will help smooth these spikes. As for oil..as long as its exactly the same numbers 10/30 ect.. it will be ok. If not you risk creating lumpy parts of oil which will increase friction unevenly in your engine.. mix different spec oils and your engine will be rooted in no time!
cheers. i got the starter sorted. it was a broken wire. sorted it out easly. i cant get it to stop blowing fuses though. everyone iv asked have said its proberly overcharging and id need a new regulator.. but i cant get another fzr250 one in england.. most electric parts are pretty interchangable as long as i get the right voltage though arnt they?
Because there is only one fuse for the electrics it is hard to pinpoint the problem as every thing is attached to the live 12v. Look for a short circuit in the wiring, loose wires or a faulty headlight globe (I have seen them short out internally). Check all lights for shorts. The only way you will find/fix this is by carefully looking for the fault. Use any oil in the range of 10w40 to 20w40. i'll get it sorted eventually. =] it'll just take a while. im actually tempted to get a compleatly new wireing loom done and make a custom fairing whilst im at it.. just a case of getting the cash together. i just got my local yamaha garage to do the oil for me. was only £35. =]
