I am 17 yrs old and live in england and want to get a 250cc bike for when i pass my test in approx 4 weeks (need to get paid first <!-- s:( --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" title="Sad" /><!-- s:( -->...) i came here because i was looking through a list of some of the quicker 250's and this is what i'm interested in...speed and performance. Looks don't bother me...comfort does a little because once or twice a year i would be riding 250-300 mile trips to family so of course it matters a little. Any help would be amazing and thank you for your time.

These bikes certainly are quick for their size, but are getting to an age where they are a bit problematic if you don't get a good one. The newest one you will find will be about 13 years old, and the oldest 22 years old.

Being a GREY IMPORT parts are generally hard to get other than basics. If you can find a good one then go with it. While I don't regret having one to learn on, I think I was lucky I had no problems with mine.

Personally knowing what I know now, I would look for something a bit newer.

There are a lot of bikes that will go nearly as well, such as the Kawasaki GPX250 and the Hyosung 250, and are reasonably priced new and even better value when a few years old.

the gpx is good - zzr is nice and ninjas are cool (tho some issues) but i have to disagree with you on the hyosung - the 250 is crap, its' big and heavy and slow - everythign will fly past it (in it's catagory of sports 250's) this is not to say its' a bad bike - it's awsom for larger riders, its' well built (but make sure to get a new fule filter as they go after 500/1000k or so) and rides really nicelly, but it is slow. if you want fast dont' go teh hyosung. better off with a gpx imho.

thing is with these bikes they are gray imports, there will be problems i garuntee it, so when you get one try to get it from a dealer that will give youa waranty with it - it may cost more but it will healp alot.
