Hi guys! This is my first time to post but it's been a while since i'm reading this very great site.Anyway I do have a 2kr w/ exup bike,my problem is that whenever i start it cold or using it for about 2hrs past only,i have to hold the throttle in full and the bike has this very poor iddling as if when you release the throttle in full the engine will die,and this poor iddling will take 5 minutes or more depends in the coldness of the engine, after such time the engine will run normally, and as long as the engine is hot the bike has no problem during starting.hope u can help me, tnx!!!!

Does your choke work? Are you using the choke? Are the choke plungers in good condition?

    Is your EXUP adjusted?

Have you checked your valve clearances recently? Bad / out of tolerance valve clearances are notorious for hard starts, and is one of the FZR line's weak points.

try switching your fuel of when you finish riding for the day. When you go to start the bike in the morning turn your fuel on and when you push the start button don't touch the throttle untill it has started. I think the carbs flood easly and that is why it takes so long to iddle right.

hi guy's sorry for responding late, i have work to do and cannot connect that easy in the net,
anyway dontz125 tnx for the response,my choke is working,i even used it to start the bike,it
is like holding the throttle and at the same time full choking the bike, that is how bad is my
bike is,but dont125 i'm not that very technical guy when it comes to it,i only do basic maintenance
with the bike since i got in 2003 directly imported from japan and it is very fast bike,so do you
have some links or instructions when it comes to checking the valve clearance,i want to do it
by my self,i have the tools but don't have knowledge to do it,and i have to look for the choke
plungers also don't have any idea what they look like sorry for being innocent!!hehehe. And to hawkeye
tnx also,i would try that first when i got home, but for the past years even though i wont
turn the fuel off it would start great, but you know what that bike really sounds that it is flooded whenever
i start it,hope these things will work,i'll keep you update whenever there
    are changes..tnx again guys!!!dontz125 don't forget dude!!

    Try this link for valves <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href="http://fzr250.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=1597">viewtopic.php?f=20&t=1597</a><!-- l -->
You should be able to follow that, and it is not too difficult.

Well done with the valves - nice to hear a success story. Makes the effort all worth while.

Bike keeps going but tacho stops --- Suggest wiring / bad connection / faulty tacho. The signal comes from one of the ignition coils to the tacho, so it is only a short run of wire. Might also be losing power (12v supply).. Check connections..

dave i made some initial check up,i get a 12volt bulb to test the wirings at the back of the tacho, the black one which is negative i suppose it has power/connection on it becuse the bulb lights up whenever i connected the other end to the positive terminal of the battery, and also try to connect to either the gray or brown wire and bulb lights up also, three wires i suppose do have all connections, what would be the problem do i have already a faulty tacho?is there remedy for this?tnx!!

From what you have described it does sound like a faulty tacho.. Replacement might be the only option unless you know someone that is good with electronics.

i only presumed that it is a faulty tacho because all three wires at the back of the tacho do all have connections or working,i have to better yet get to a pro to get this thing work,i have done what i know and your inputs for this,

tnx to all guys!!still monitoring this great site for what new FZR!!!!!!!
