Hey guys,

Just thought I'd introduce myself. I'm A-mak, from gippsland. Brought my first bike (after looking through the 'post a picture of your bike' thread I found out the previous owner is newbiefzr heh). Pretty much all the problems he was 'experiencing' I have since sorted out.

I have myself a Yamaha blue FZR 250 3ln-1 1990. Had it in bits the other day, put on a proper radiator cap, replaced the o-rings (one was fine, the other leaked) bout to solder up a weak spot in the water pipe. Re-sealed the rocket cover (leaked oil from one part due to rubber going hard I suspect). Did a general service, new spark plugs (old ones looked fine tho) new oil filter, checked the air filter (was spotless). Now she starts first time every time .

Unfortunately I still need to get a new front tyre (current one has gone hard and cracked looked like she'd been sitting around on concrete for a while) and replace the left front fork seal then it's off to get a rwc!

anyways, booked in to get my L's on Saturday and then hopefully soon after that I can start riding . Don't blame me if I start pestering on here on ways I can make her better :p.

I've always enjoyed fiddling with stuff, had a pretty steady career in I.T but got sick of it so now I'm a manager of our local BWS bottleshop. So if anyone is having any trouble that's computer related (or grog) give us a yell and I'll try my best to help ya out.

When did it happen? If you spill something on the laptop best thing todo is to pull the battery out straight away.

do the keys/lights stay lit up? Do you hear the hard drive spin (or feel whatever)? Does it make any beeps?

If it is buggered, you couldn't exactly just buy a new mobo for it (laptops this is) unless its under warranty I don't think it'd be worth it. Easier just to hit up greysonline or pickup a new cheapie and slap in your old hdd (if it's sata, or just get an external)

happened about a week ago it didnt look too bad so unfortnatly i didnt take the battery out i just wiped it off and i started it up when i saw it and it worked fine so shut it down again and went home bout half hour drive and sat it on the seat in the sun to dry out just incase when i got home it didnt work, havent heard the hard drive kick in but the fan does so it could be starting to go at the same time.
no beeps and the light only come on for a second, its a HP and when i hit any of the quick key lights they all light up for a second. i think its under warrenty but i figured they tell me to go to hell with what happened so it took it to the local comp shop and he's having a look at it thinks it might just be some stick stuff on the terminals that could be cleaned off but if not he reckons he can a new M/B for it.

be really spewin if i have to piff it paid about $1500 for it a yr ago.

Who stocks FZR250 spares ? anybody ?
Will the FZR400 head sit on the FZR250 barrels ? and if so , do the valves hit the cylinder liners when opening ?

The bore size on the 400 is 8mm more. The head would have to be marginally longer to accommodate that. If by some chance it did fit, the combustion chamber volume would be bigger, giving a lower compression ratio.

I can't see it being a success at all, even if it did fit.
