    Recently decided to go for a ride to town, new its was running like a dog, on its last legs.
    made it half way there and lost all power so i pulled over and somehow got it going again and turned rounfd towards home then about 2ks from where i live it went BANG and sounded like a sewing machine with a v8 running on 3 cylinders haha

    ANYWAY...Done the bottom end no.3 bearing (there was metal laying in the sump)
    needs to be bored out new pistons rings valves EVERYTHING...need exup cables too? they decided to snap.

    Question.1 will a 2kr/1hx head fit on a 3ln bottom?

    2.How much am i looking at to rebuild? (doing most of the work myself)

    3.DOES ANYONE HAVE A ENGINE WITH A GOOD BOTTOM END? WILL LOOK AT ANYTHING!!
    but please prefere engines under $1000 dont care how many ks on tight budget since being fired. as long as crank and everything good. some d**k welded the magneto onto the end of my old one. avoid buying dodgey bikes.

    P.S I live in tassie <!-- s:???: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_confused.gif" alt=":???:" title="Confused" /><!-- s:???: -->

    Thats bad news about the engine.. <!-- s:( --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" title="Sad" /><!-- s:( -->

    The one head gasket fits all models so I would imagine that the heads are interchangable.
    Checking the part numbers reveals

    2KR has 2KR-11310-00
    3LN1-3-5 has 2KR-11310-01
    3LN6-7 has 2KR-11310-02

    The differences are probably only minor and as long as you use all the original parts from that head should be ok.
    Best to check carefully first though.

    I have a 3LN engine which the bottom end should be fine on. Having said that im not totally sure whats happened in there as i havent opened it up. I suspected piston/valve damage on cyl 3

    Thats what mine had thought it was all fine, then i looked at the bottom of the head and there was a big stamp of the top of the piston on it haha

    is the head and barrels of the block? if so see if there is any up and down movement in any of the conrods or if any crab when you move them the way there meant to

    I'm almost 100% i have found an engine.

    A complete 3ln engine that i shouldnt have to fiddle with.

    Just need to make sure its a legitimate deal first.

    Thank you anyway!
    And yeah if something doesnt feel right with the conrods you know there is more problems.
