take off your exhaust headers, duck your head underneath your bike you'll see a few screws in the middle of your oil basket. you might wanna have a bucket or tray underneath the bike cause it will pissout oil for a long time <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

The 3LN has the oil filter can on the front of the engine, not underneath as the 2KR does. The other thing is to warm the bike up first to get the oil warm. Once the headers cool down enough drain the oil out the drain plug underneath and then screw the filter out.

Put some new oil on the rubber oil filter gasket. Once the oils all runs out put the bung back in and the filter back on. Don't forget to fill it up with a good grade oil - 10W40 for the FZR

Unfortunately (from my perspective) the 3LN1 still has the internal oil filter; the 3LN3+ has the external spin-on unit.

on my 2KR the filter is underneath in a housing held on by 3 allen key head bolts, you can undo it and take it out without removing the exhaust, is that normal or has someone modified it?

I seem to remember having to drop my exhaust down to change the filter - That was a long time ago, I sold my 2KR FZR in 2006.
