    Re: Attempt: Levers

    Yamaha wanted nothing to do with my bike. Which included Wholesalers, mechanics and distributors. I found a mechanic confident enough to strip it apart. I printed off all the manuals and wished him the best of luck.

    You'll find pricing for most of the seals/gaskets below in previous post;
    <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href="http://fzr250.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=3505">viewtopic.php?f=20&t=3505</a><!-- l -->

    Bored out cyclinder heads + P&P + Head Service ++ few other bits and pieces to the head cost about $1800.. Not to mention 11 months without her. (coming onto 12 months now)

    Out of all the seals, i missed one. the RHS crankshaft seal ($18AUD) so should arrive this week sometime. *sigh*

    27/02 - Chopped Exhaust Yesterday;

    The exhaust was sitting outside for a good 11 months (through rebuild time) and copped some very severe rust (rust which had eaten through the stainless shine) -- took me 4 hours of Rust Dissolver, Thinners, Steel Wool and Polishing to bring it back to life. (I am now in love)

    Re: Attempt: Levers

    i'll suggest to change both lever assemblies with the front brake MC with modern bike...... after all, if the handle diameters are the same, then its a bolt-on type of thing, and then you can go ahead with bitching pazzo levers... if fzr250's handle diameter is too big, then it might not work, but if its too small than you could just add on cylindrical shims halves..

    if the lever is not too small you could get it machined, i have a mate with a lathe.

    The bars on practically every bike made since 1970-somethin' is 7/8"; the exception is of course the Hardley-Ableson line of farm tractors and paint mixers.

    I don't believe R6 levers will fit the FZR perches, but the R6 perches will definitely fit on the FZR clip-ons.

    @Dontz

    Are you referring to the highlighted bit below? being bolted onto the perch?

    i think dontz means that the whole r6 perch will bolt on because the clip on tube is the same diameter

    Well, its been sometime, I thought i'd just provide you guys with an update.

    I got my bike back some many months ago (approx Nov last year) -- Bike was running amazing after close to $7000 AUD I had spent on restoring it from the ground up. I had thrown about 5,000+ km/s on it and decided to practice some wheelies (obviously because the power was there) .. turns out that after that.. I lost alot of power.. I caused valve bounce & lost compression in 3 out of 4 cylinders (literally 0 PSI) and broke both fork seals lol. (the one seal in the bike that wasnt replaced, because they were new anyways)

    So.. its back in the shop ever since Decemberish*, just got the head machined (again) .. (came back Monday) so im off on saturday to attempt putting it back togethor, its currently a bench for paint tins.. its quite a depressing site after the amount of money I had spent on that ******* motor.. anyways, a picture of my baby currently, spent little bits of my time cleaning it up here and there..
