    Well I am going to change the front tyre on the little fizzbomb. Have done a couple of other bits including replacing front fork oil, bleeding all the brakes to replace fluid and replaced rear pads. Front pads to be done soon.

    The bike feels even better every bit I do, even though it looks like a dog, and I easy prefer riding it to my RD350 F2.

    I get the feeling the ???year old front tyre is holding the little bike back a bit. So what decent sports tyres (other than BT45) are out there??

    Recommendations appreciated <!-- s:cheers: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/th_Cheers.gif" alt=":cheers:" title="cheers" /><!-- s:cheers: -->

    I've heard good things from people with 250's about pirelli sport demons, but other than that I'm not sure. I had a Michelin pilot activ on my GS500 and that felt fairly wooden compared to the Pilot Powers I have on my R1; comparing apples and oranges really...

    Assuming of course that the tyre models and sizes are the same, go continentals ;)

    I run BT003 RS and must say they are fantastic. That is as far as grip is concerned. I am not able to say what will they give as far as life, but I would not assume more than 5-6 K of hard riding and it will be the center squaring up from hwy riding. It's a great tire for street and occasional track day.

    Well I went with the BT090 in the end. Going more toward a sports tyre, though I commute more than anything on it.

    Got a track day at Brands Hatch Indy circuit in early September so should easily scrub in by then.

    By the way, is there anyone out there running a 140 section rear tyre??????????????

    The thing on the R/H caliper is the yearly road tax disc that UK vehicles have to display.

    I was asking about the 140 section rear tyre because at the moment I am running an Avon 130 section and it is pretty damn close to the rear caliper torque arm and the chain cover tho other side. I have been looking for a replacement tyre as early next year I think it's gonna need one.

    The only 130 tyre I can find is another Avon. The smallest REAR tyre Bridgestone UK do is the 140/70 VR17 BT003 street.

    Obviously what I fit sorta has to go with the BT090 I have fitted to the front.

    Getting rid of chicken strips is kinda fun in the rain <!-- s:mrgreen: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":mrgreen:" title="Mr. Green" /><!-- s:mrgreen: -->

    That looks pretty horrible. I feel for you guys. I always thought that only anti-motorcycle governments and provinces like Ontario, Canada can come up with silly things like that. I guess not ... :-(

    Fair enough, I thought that is the reason, but was not sure.

    Once you use the bike on the track, even for amateur track day, I would not try to re-invent the wheel and go with the multi-compund BT003RS. there's a reason why they use them in the Ninja 250 cup, in the US. It's a well sorted tire.

    On the other hand if you are concerned about life span or rain performance, you might want to look elsewhere (if there's another 140/70 R17, I am not sure). Make sure you stick to the 70 height, otherwise you will have to play with a ride height to keep the bike's behaviour neutral; unless the same tire height would be in front).

    Most 140 tires should fit without a problem. i have plenty of room on either side. Not all 140s are the same width though ....

    What sort of pressures you running in yours, versus the stated manual pressures?

    For the BT003RS I run the following:

    1) Track - 27psi front and back

    2) Street - 30psi front and back
