...Okay so i have lost my notes on which coil goes 2 which plug... When sitting on the bike... Coils starting at the top one goes to which cylinder - left 1-2-3-4 right Cheerio Steve
They should be labeled ... If not, the 1 / 4 coil generally has one very long and one rather short lead, while the 2 / 3 coil has both about the same. Also, look at the low-tension wires going to the top of the coil - the orange wire is for 1 / 4, the grey wire is for 2 / 3. This is a wasted spark system, so it doesn't matter which lead from the 2/3 coil goes on #2 and which goes on #3, so long as they don't wind up on 1 or 4. Same deal with the 1/4 leads.
They are normally. But on my 3LN3 the coils were certainly not next to each other facing vertically downward as per that photo! They are on the left hand frame spar on the inside near the headstock and they face the rear of the bike and one is above the other. From memory the upper coil has a yellow connector and feeds cylinders 1 & 4. The other coil has a white/clear connector and feeds 2 & 3, the centre two cylinders. Chris
Yeah, I think that's a 2KR pic. You can't always tell by a parts diagram, though - the 3LN6 parts book shows the left coil feeding 3/4, and the right coil feeding 1/2. THAT'S crap. Go with the coloured signal wire - grey drives 2/3, orange drives 1/4.
