Having the worst luck with this bike. My 3ln fzr250 starts, idles, revs fine in neutral, however it just dies whenever I try to ride it. It seems to be able to move slowly on flat ground, but any kind of hill in front of it causes it to die as soon as the clutch is out. I've tried everything I can think of to fix it. Valve shims, cleaned and balanced the carbs, etc. I've had nothing but bad luck with this bike and have not been able to ride it for over a year. I should also mention that the bike struggles to start when cold, and pretty much wont start unless I spray some propane into the airbox. Once the bike is warmed up I no longer need the propane. Any ideas what I should try next?

Sounds like fuel starvation to me.

I would check the flow out of the tank as the internal filters may be clogged up.....pull off the fuel lines to the fuel cock.
Also check the fuel cock and make sure fuel is passing thru....
Does it have a filter?.....change it if u havnt already.....when a filter is full of crap going uphill causes the crap to move and block the flow.
Is the fuel pump working ok?
Any kinks in the fuel lines?
Have u checked the choke is operating correctly?.....cable not jammed up?

Ok I think I will check the tank next. Forgot to mention that I did change the filter, and the fuel pump seemed to be causing issues, so I bypassed it. Its gravity fed for now. Choke seems to work fine. There is a definate difference in how it runs when the choke is on. Would usually stall if I put the choke on while it is warm and running.

If u go as far as taking the petcock off it will look like this......be careful with the rubber "o ring" gasket.

Those filter tubes do just come out ....for a good clean.

As u can see theres a bit of junk there but I also had like a teaspoon of rust and crap fall out the hole.

Thought I should update this. Bike seems to run better now. It actually moves so thats a start. I think it was due to the plugs needing cleaning, along with a cylinder balance.

Now it just need to work out how to start it when the bike is cold. I can't seem to get it to start without using a quick propane spray in the airbox. Once it starts one or two times with that, it will usually start right away without propane. It also seems to struggle to rev at 1/4 throttle, but is fine at full throttle. There also seems to be a bit of a popping noise coming from the exhaust at idle. I can't tell if its running too rich or too lean.
