Apparently there is a 1994 2kr engine for sale. Will this fit into my 86-88 FZR-250? Are there any major differences in engines? Cheers, Kris <!-- s --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt="" title="Smile" /><!-- s -->
I think the mounts are different to suit the frame, and from some of the previous posts, some of the electrics around the ignition are incompatible. From memory the older header pipes don't clear the oil filter which is on the front of the later engines.
Id guess u are talking bout this one.... http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/yamaha-f...orcycle_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3f23e85af8 Id say the 1994 is the compliance date of the bike it came out of .... that is,the year it was grey imported into Australia. Try to get the engine number to try a bit of matching with info like this .... http://www.fzr250.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=3636 Ive found most of the sellers on ebay (especially the wreckers) have no idea of models and years of the FZR
I have an earlier and later model engines. The sumps are interchangeable. The ignition pickup also seem similar though I haven't measured them. I also have a couple of flywheels and although they have different numbers and different tapers onto the crankshafts the trigger teeth on the outside are identical, one long and three short and in the same places relative to the keyway.
