not revving out

    Hi my 3ln1 will rev cleanly to the red line in neutral but when riding it struggles to rev past 12k .had new oil and filters but not plugs,also hasn't had carbs cleaned since I got it....suggestions please....thanks andy

    Check your EXUP. If it's stuck in the low position, it won't rev out under load.

    Start the engine, let it idle for a few minutes until it's done with the choke, then flick / spray some water on the headers. Does one pipe sizzle less than the others (or not at all)?

    I'll check that thanks,presumably to see if one cylinder is down! Also would I see the ex up valve move when revving in neutral?thanks andy

    Yes, that's what the sizzle test is for, and yes, you should see the EXUP positioning as you rev the engine up and down.

    Thanks that helps alot <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D --> and when I get my arse in gear I'll try to post a photo or the Honda rsw 250 go seat unit I've fitted ,had to cram everything in tight but no room for expansion bottle I plan to fit that under speedo <!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt=":lol:" title="Laughing" /><!-- s:lol: --> I'll see what's up with headers and see if ex up actuates under revving asap but work limits my time and the fzr is a project and not my main bike and sorta goes to the back of the line when my two stroke project needs somthing <!-- s:cheers: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/th_Cheers.gif" alt=":cheers:" title="cheers" /><!-- s:cheers: -->
