On Murdos invitation I went along to the local Bunnings carpark this morning for a chat and a look , amongst some fine machinery.
I really enjoyed the "I rode this and that" and "I drove that and learned in this" conversations with plenty of lads the same vintage as me! ...... a real "back in the good old days " morning ....... Thanx Steve :thumb_ups:

Heres a fine example of Murdos restoration work......great looking bike!

What a great idea, good to chat with like minded people. Plus the chance to peruse some fine looking machines, both 2 and 4 wheel type. Nice work Murdo, love the Honda 125, great looking bike.;)
How often are these events held !!!!! :thumb_ups:

This is just a no pressure get together on the second Sunday of the month in the Local Bunnings carpark from 9 to 11am. It started from a conversation with my younger mate about how there were about a dozen different car and bike clubs in Tamworth and how this lot didn't talk to this other lot and how that lot didn't talk to another lot, etc. He googled around and found other clubs that didn't know of the existence of these clubs. We made up a proposal, then with help from the local Bunnings manager and a bit of sponsorship from the local Shannons insurance rep to get it going, we have a get together. The bike club I'm in (VJMC) usually go for a ride to a nearby town for a pub lunch afterwards, some of the car clubs do similar. It gives the historic rego'ed cars and bikes another chance to be on the road being used. There are more of these events being held around the country. I know the motorcycle café in Wickham in Newcastle has a similar event (Friday night I think) and there is a Saturday night one at Bakers Cottage in East Maitland, and in Sydney at the pie shop in Liverpool (Harry's café on wheels) on Sunday mornings. There would no doubt be others, but these are a few I have been to. Glad you could come Brian, maybe next time with your bike and join us for a ride. :)

If there are no events of this type where you are, why not start one of your own. It doesn't have to be a Bunnings, just some place with a quiet carpark and a café/coffee shop close by (even a mobile coffee van). A bit of advertising and be prepared for it to grow. Not much to lose, just a bit of your time.
