just brought a zx250a 88 model brought it not running condition i have it all ready to got but i think the plug leads are on wrong i have no idea on the fireing order or what lead goes where i can find a manual i have searched for hours please help.
1 coil fires 1 and 4 cylinder and the other 2 and 3 Manuals and stuff are in the Resources section Premium membership gives u download access http://2fiftycc.com/index.php?account/upgrades
thanks but would you be able to tell me what colors the wires are on the coils from left to right? i dont think there correct as it is not even firing all it does is exploded the unburnt fuel in the exhaust
I took this today so I would remember during reassembly ... its on a C model and its looking down from the front ... clean the terminals also The other thing to check is that the caps are screwed into the leads properly and also not corroded or full of crap ... always best to snip a couple of mms of the lead and screw the cap back into new shiny wire in the core of the lead
sweet thanks that will be a great help. so when you say 1 coil does 1 and 4 the other does 2and three does it matter which side they come off the coil?
i just had a look at the a model and the coils are set up a bit different there facing the other way and the colors are in different positions on the c model left to right is green red black red on this bike it goes red black red green but the black and green are on the green terminals on the coils. confusion setting in
yours sounds like its right ..... heres the schematic from the ZXR manual the way to test your spark is to remove 1 plug at a time , put it back into the cap and rest the end on the head ..... turn the bike over and look to see if u get a decent spark .... best done in low light and keep your hands and fingers well away. then theres resistance tests u can do on the coils with a multimeter
thankyou mate you have been a great help i got it fired up today but it bellowed grey smoke hope the rings aint ****** i am hoping for a stuck oil ring from sitting so i might run a engine flush though it see if it comes good. fingers crossed, thanks again mate.
Good stuff. Has it been sitting long? Could be condensation and stale fuel. Get that new oil in and run it or ride it and you might find it will settle.
Thats great ! Yea ditto wat @Th3_Huntsman said ..... get some good oil in there and a good run and hopefully it will clear it out Dont sit stationary and rev the crap out of it ... get it out on the road and ride so its under load
bit of a update smoke cleared got it starting easy few little problems like the flasher relay anit flashing but all in all i am happy with the bike and i only payed $250 here is a pic or her
