Richie, all cool was just trying to give a reality check ,I'm 64 and spent most of working life traveling and working around oz mainly mining harvest fishing industrys and also operating heavy mechinary mostly off the back of a bike. on a 447 visa most employers arent going to want to employ you unless you have qualifications they need ie tradesman etc because in their mind couple of months and you will be gone ,so good chance you will be on the backpacker circit ,casual harvest ,now you can do the normal, team up with a van and a few people, trouble is lets say 4 people and only 2 jobs ,3/4 people tend to party more as well so will work out more exie ,this is not Ireland and doesn't rain as much especially during harvest areas during the seasons so a tent isn't a real hardship ,also found traveling by bike because a lot of people love bikes you will find a lot more locals will talk to you and tell you about work and who not to work for than if your with a lot backpackers in a van (and you will meet a lot more people because of a common intrest), and a group of backbackers generally have a what the what the .... attitude which doesn't help for work.and if this seems a bit know all ,for yrs a mate had a harvest labour hire company (a GOOD one,he did the proper and legal thing with the workers, unlike some/a lot) and I did the paddock bossing (mainly for the chance of a bit civilisation as most other jobs/mining etc weren't fly in fly out at the time ,a lot still arent) as well as a lot of other harvest work...best bet get a truck lic ...again good luck

No bother, the reality checks have been coming thick and fast since lost my job over a year ago and not being able to get another here isnt for the lack of trying it would get a man down.its not doing my brain any good being idle either. I forgot that it doesn't rain much in summer as here it does and did got about two weeks worth of good weather this summer at best. I wouldn't be apposed to the tent idea but im guessing you need to go to a campsite? What did you live on? it would save on alot of money which will be one of my goals to live cheaply and put away money. id say there would be a bit of friction sharing a van with 3 other people lol. Thanks for the advice hopefully I figure it out I just like having a decent plan set to try adhere to rather than take a shot in the dark
