Fit a pair of Mikuni VM carbs. You can tune them to run with pods and all the parts are readily available.

We put in different jets 22.5 idle and 127.5 for the main as we thought that's what was in their.
The nine runs sweet smooth except now if it idled and we rev it above 5000 it stays up their until you rev it hard a few times and then it comes back down
I have order some carb boots Hoping it's an air leak any thoughts
The revs stay up their when I ride as well

I won't make another comment after this.
That's exactly what it will do without the air box, your wasting your time & maybe money, jets won't fix it.
    Good luck !

Still sounds like an air leak causing it to run lean.
Hope you have it fixed by next weekend so you can join us for the ride to Sawtell.

Sorry mate been away with work no luck fixing it at this stage it idles nice until you rev it and then it stays up we just replaced the carb boots hoping it was a leak but no good
So we have no choice but to revert back to the air box so I need to get a new set of idle and main jets and then redesign everything to move the electrics
Any thoughts on where to get the jets from ASAP cheers

its the CV carbs , they have real trouble running without a smooth intake of air , with pods on they get a harmonic that pulls the rpm up , you can stop it doing that by putting a rag between the filter and the carb, although thats not really a solution because its just restricting the air so it runs rich,

Im working on cutting up the old airbox to 1/3 the size (near the mesh filter) to see if that will be good enough, if not i might just spring for some Mikuni VMs

Wow thanks I will try that if it runs rich couldn't you raise the main needle height in the carbs to lean it out I mean raise the clip 1 or 2 to make it leaner
