Hey guys! Today I took 2 ZXR250 carbs and removed the needles and diaphragms from both. I then swapped the carb body currently in my bike for the replacement body of the second carb as it seemed to be much cleaner. I know that this will mean my carbs are currently not synced for the engine. I also swapped in the needles from the replacement carb as they were slightly longer (Measured using a vernier caliper) and they seemed to have the Parts number that I have seen listed in ZXR250 info (N76U) the ones originally in the bike were (N76B). I reassembled with the diaphragms that were in the best condition and I found that I can not rev past 2000 rpm. Does anyone know why this may be?
Hey Mizuna, Welcome to the forum, how were your old carbs ? Did the bike run and rev ? With the new carbs you fitted, do you check the air fuel mix screws ? They should be set 2.5 turns out an A model. I would at a minimum pull the slow jets, main jets, emulsion tubes etc and ensure they are clean Lets us know how you get on Chris
Check the jet sizes are correct and uniform ... outer carbs have smaller main jets than the inners. Are all the springs in place where the butterfly/balance screws are? http://2fiftycc.com/index.php?threads/how-to-bench-sync-your-carbs.2053/ http://2fiftycc.com/index.php?threa...in-your-zxr250-keihin-cvk30-carburetors.2651/ http://2fiftycc.com/index.php?threads/how-to-clean-your-carbies-on-a-kawasaki-zxr250c.653/
Welcome to the forum.. Also to add.. http://2fiftycc.com/index.php?threads/threebond-the-ultimate-cleaner.1229/
Welcome. Sound like your slides are not lifting. Check to see that the diaphrams are sealing correctly, and the slides move up and down freely.
Thanks guys for your advice Turns out 2 of the diaphragms slides were jammed as the springs weren't seated properly.
I spoke too soon... Rode up the street was running okay and revving up then had a loss of power and wont rev past 2000rpm again
Start from the top and work your way down mate. how rusty is the tank? How dirty is the fuel filter? Any cracks in lines or rubbers? How is the seals in the carbs? If any of ^^^^^ these 4 are bad then it wont matter how clean your carbs are...Now if those 4 are clean and in good nick next thing would be is to clean your carbs (Again), you will get to know how your carbs work on an intimate level owning older bikes. Now if all of the above is good next thing is to check all cylinders are firing, best way I have found to do that without stripping the bike (and apart from noise of it only running on 3 cylinders) is while the bike is running get a spray bottle and spray water on the header pipes one at a time. Which ever header does not sizzle is the one is not firing.. That is of course if you have not done all this and it hasn't been mentioned before..
Are you meaning me?...... Because it was Chris's cibby... But when he did part with it I purchased it from him last year..
