    Hi All,
I was doing some checks as I wait for the spark plug resister caps and leads to come in. I have primary 3 ohms but secondary I have open circuit on both coils. I have placed a metal rod into the coil as my leads don't fit to eliminate the lead. The bike runs ok so not shore what I am doing wrong. I am measuring from 1 side of the primary to the secondary :idk:

Coil resistance Primary 2.8 +/- 15% = 2.24 - 3.2 ohms, Secondary 15k +/- 15% = 12.75k - 17.25k ohms (Thanks to a member who was answering a post about FZR 400 coil if they matched a 250 coil but had a lower resistance. Sorry not shore who that was)

Check the primary side by placing a multimeter across the terminals or across the plug of the primary leads that has been disconnected.

Check the secondary side by placing the multimeter across both the seconary side pins on the coil. They are recessed into the coil. The hole are tapered so you have to be careful what size rods you place in the recessed holes. I used 2 6mm bolts. You can check the resistance with the leads connected to the coil but you will get a higher reading as the lead have a 5k ohm cap on the lead that connects to the spark plug. I got 15k with no leads and 25k with leads

    Test for twin outlet coils

Primary : multimeter on 200m (ohm side)
probes on + and - terminals of coil

    should read around 2.8 ohms

Secondary : multimeter on 20K (ohm side)
probes on the ends of each plug lead with no caps

    should read around 15K ohms
