Hey Guys I have had some really great success using Threebond Engine Conditioner to fix up some carbs so I thought I would share how it all works. First off, buy can of Threebond Engine Conditioner, they are about $20 for a 240mm can . As you can see below, my carbs were a mess, jets, emulsion tubes, screws etc were in a bad way from a bike that had sat for three years. I set about removing the brass bits which included the main jet, slow jet, air \ fuel mix screws and emulsion tubes. I have them a quick clean using Carby clean to get the chunky bits off. I pulled the carbies apart, then put them in a glass measuring cup ( a jar will do) , I then sprayed threebond in the jar, it will be a foam at first but will settle into a liquid in a few mins. Leave them in the jar for a few hours or overnight, I give them a quick swirl everyone hour or so just to move the liquid around. When you are ready to pull them out, drain the excess fluid out and dry your parts on a clean rag. I then used my compressor to blow off any residue and ensure all the little cavities in the jets, emulsion tubes etc are clear. Important Note, do not put anything rubber in there, just your metal bits.
Some Threebond action on the main bodys Threebond leaves a residue coating so I give them a good rinse in a bucket of very hot soapy water then a good time out in the sun (or straight into the ultrasonic cleaner) A toothbrush helps with any really caked on junk.
I always get mine from Repco From memory theres a couple of types .... for diesel engines etc Get the one in the photos above It was originally made for Subaru to clean the inlet manifold and throttle body http://www.threebond.com.au/aerosols.html
