So the 07 CBR600RR is my daily ride and recently I noticed a small problem. Sometimes, maybe 1/20 starts, the fuel pump doesn't run when you turn the key. Flicking the kill switch off and back on again seems to get it going but normally it will run when the key is turned and the kill switch is already on. Also, sometimes, usually within a few kms of my commute the bike feels a little "boggy" when it doesn't normally (it happens less than the previous issue although I think they're related).

Before you ask, I normally let it warm up til at least when the temperature registers on the dash, and normally have it to at least 60 degrees before I leave the drive way. Also, I wait til the tacho and speedo go up and back down to 0 so it has time to prime, but since I wear ear plugs I sometimes don't hear it. When the bike doesn't start, the fuel pump doesn't make noise though.

I'm hoping it's just a relay or even the rectifier, not the pump itself. Any ideas? I like the fact I can trust the 600 to start every time, unlike the MC22 which had an element of luck, especially on cold mornings.

Sounds electrical for sure to me. Time for some rewiring? Or at least perhaps getting out the old multimeter and checking some components.

Open up the switch block and get the cleaning lady in there

Or if its the fuel pump being intermittent while starting and while riding then I would be looking at the connections there too

Good call on the switch block! I might give it a look over.

And the MC22 should be back online this week so I may take the 600 off the road while it gets looked at. The problem is the issue is hard to work with as it doesn't happen predictably or conveniently. Always happens when I'm leaving for work or leaving work to come home, never when I can get some tools out. Also, oddly enough, I haven't messed with the 600 much so it would be a new experience taking it apart unlike the MC22 which has been together and apart more times than I can count.

    Another question is...

I have lost one of the keys. The ironic thing is I had attached a rather large key tag (with Honda and the Wing) so I wouldn't lose it. As it were, it wasn't as effective as I hoped. So with one key left, I am wondering how I go about getting another key (or two) cut? How do I find out what the immobilizer thing inside the key needs to be set, programmed or input as? I'm optimistic that it will turn up eventually but it's better to be safe than sorry.

You can get aftermarket key's or new genuine key's off ebay, have it cut by a locksmith then take your bike with both key's to honda and have the new one programmed.
Sometime's dealer charge a bit to do this though.

Other option is a lot of locksmith's now have transponder cloning equipment so can copy your code from your good key and program your spare key
    Key's on ebay

Thanks @my67xr ! I guess I better order a few then. I'll go down to Honda and see how much they'll charge me. I dare say at least a few hundred but maybe other shops can clone the keys. I Googled a few lock smiths too.
