So this might be a question for some of the NSR owners out there but I got an NSR250 SP shock (Showa) as the last piece of the puzzle to convert my R model to SP! However I noticed the bladder for the reservoir moves which suggests it was de-gassed which has me wondering... where do you fill it up? I know that generally these units are non-servicable however NSR World does rebuilds and I presume they don't re-gas before they ship?
There's no metal cap's or an allen head bolt covering a rubber bung anywhere on it ? Some shock reservoir's need you to use a needle to refill instead of the Schrader valve
No valve of any kind as far as I could see (i.e. like your typical dirt bike shock). Hmmm, might need to ask NSR world.
Mine has a remote reservoir with a screw in the end of it. I'm assuming that's where it is regassed as after I had the shock rebuilt it had a new screw in there.
Hmmm, mine has the remote reservoir (SP shock, like how old dirt bike shocks are too) but I can't find a screw or valve of any kind. I'll post up some pictures soon.
So I found a post on NSR world which basically says (courtesy of Matt form Tyga) that a valve needs to be added to that cap. I might email Paul about it. Now the question is how to best add a schrader valve to that thing... Might be easier to get a different reservoir of an old CR125 or CR250?
My IT200 has a similar looking rear shock with a remote gas canister setup, it's made by Yamaha / De Carbon The DT200's had a similar shock too You could easily use a new Schrader valve like this for a compressor, or even find one for a mag wheel http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nickel-Plat...930262?hash=item1c4eab4056:g:szkAAOSwe-FU6-pn
Seems like what most people do. I was reading on NSR World that the NSR SP shock is somewhat backwards as typically you fill the bladder full of nitrogen but on this shock you fill the space around the bladder (which is full of oil)... apparently. Now the question is how to take it apart. I think there is enough Nitrogen out of it to warrant filling it up, but not enough that makes it easy to take apart yet.
I've had a rear shock rebuilt , I've recently bought another nsr that has had its rear shock rebuilt last month . The guy is a KTech agent so it was an easy job for him
I just want to release the gas out of it first to inspect the bladder. The shock is in good condition but a little down on gas (I think, I can't really check the pressure!). What's the best way to release the gas? I'm presuming there is a circlip behind the dome area like on a normal shock.
