Hi guys, Seems like I've been posting a lot in this forum with questions Thanks in advance. I bought a KN 145 oil filter for my 3LN (The 1989 takes the filter only version, not with metal case). I read on another forum that the exhaust headers needs to be removed to change in order to change the filter. Is this true?! If so that's ridiculous design! Thanks!
So finally getting to an oil change >.> ... What technique's do people have with the draining the oil? You can't fit an oil pan underneath if exhaust is lowered only and not removed (like in GreyImports pics). Thanks!
So I notice I have a side mounted oil filter. I thought these were only on 3LN3? Mine is a 1989 3LN1 Dropping the exhaust doesn't seem to help clear it. The kick stand mount is in the way instead? Thanks
Engine has been changed ..... look here with the engine number http://2fiftycc.com/index.php?threa...0-3ln-bodywork-frame-engine-carburetors.3469/ Side stands are different from the 1 to the later models ..... u will need a paddock stand so u can get the side stand off
Argh. That is very disappointing to hear. So you're is the side stand blocking the engine because it's a mismatch? May I can get the filter off still without removing the side stand. I haven't tried it, but there's gap so if the oil filter doesn't need to move backwards much then maybe I can still make it happen. That's disappointing ... may just sell the bike. Thanks
Yea move all the cables etc away and it still might come off http://2fiftycc.com/index.php?threads/spin-on-oil-filters-to-suit-zxr-fzr-and-others.2391/
You can get the filter on and off with everything there, I've done it. An alternative filter to the KN-303 type is the KN-204, it's slightly shorter so will be an easier fit. Lots of modern sportsbikes use the 204 type and their predecessors use the 303.
