Hi all, just like to introduce myself and my new project. Found this gem on Gumtree for $100, yes $100. Got in quick and the guy even help with shipping. It's a 1980 suzuki gsx 250. Got it in to work and started work on it straight away. And even came with a spare tank. Plano are to cafe racer it and an all round project (the wife gave the go ahead). After a couple hours of tinkering and examining, I hooked a jump pack on it and she cranked first go. Made up a small fuel tank out of a bottle and with a little encouragement, she fired up. Still running a little sluggish, the cards were off and gave them a good cleaning out. Downloaded a workshop manual, adjusted one of the floats and reinstalled. Fired it up and itsee running like it had been in use for the last however many years, not sitting in a shed. Can't wait to get more work done to, currently waiting on some generic parts from eBay to get it on the road. Any pointers on where to get some more original parts would be great (Brisbane australia). Currently chasing a working fuel cap.

Try wreckers and if you don't like the prices, a service like jauce or buyee can get you original parts from japan. Also ebay you can find the odd bargain.

Be prepared to spend lots of time and money on tuning if you want to get rid of the airbox on these. Use the std filter and box and you will have far less headache tuning it.

Cheers Linkin. I'll check out those sites. The plan was to swap out to pods, I'm more than happy to give it a go. But willing to go back to original.
