Was putting the bike back together when I went to the toilet, next minute the engine falls off the bench and smashes the casing. I've had it. So close to being finished cant work out how it fell its been in the same spot for ages. maybe the added weight of the head. Anyone looking for ZXR250 parts I think I will part it out.
I have an engine casing pair (C model) from my damaged crankshaft/spun bearing, if that's any good to you to try and salvage for your project...?
Thanks for that its an "A" but I assume the casings are the same. I'm just devastated at the moment the bike would have been back together tonight. I'll let you know what I decide to do.

Seems they have the same part numbers, you would not have any pics? I am trying to source a complete engine but if that fails I'll just get the casings.
Yeah dude I'll grab some pics for you, just be aware that I spun a big end bearing on the crank in these casings so they would need a thorough clean out You can have them for free of course though
I very much appreciate it. Fortunately all the running gear in the engine/gearbox remain in good order. Ill message you my details and transfer some funds for freight etc. Everything goes in the ultra sonic cleaner until its spotless. I'll need to order some gaskets from Grey Import Spares.
ooooh, pretty! could be worse, could have landed on your foot? if you were closer i would offer to hit it with the TIG... actually looks doable. just the clutch housing area... oh well, looks like you got it sorted... sort of. maybe? more unexpected work? i take the optimistically pessimistic approach... everything is going to go wrong. never get your hopes up, expect the worst... and when SHTF, you can smile and say "told you so, this is all going as per planned". or when the unexpected occurs and everything works out for the best, you can smile and say "well, this is pleasant surprise..." on the bright side, you get to learn about the joy of dismantling motorbike engines... and the frustration of getting them back together...
Both top and bottom casings are broken one has two pieces broken off, one small about 1" x 1" and one big about 3" x 4" also that which remains is fairly bent. I have a friend who repairs cast aluminium engine parts for a living and if it was minor I would get him to repair them. But yes I am getting very good with pulling apart and putting back together Kawasaki's now. I was already good at FZR's
That's awful luck with the engine drop, but the cases are the same for A & C engines, so you should be good to go. You won't even need to take the rods off the crank.
Big thanks to DanoHosko for the casing, gaskets ordered from Grey Import Spares so should be back on track later this week.
