All of slipstream's orders have a flat $8 rate. It may cost them more but they didn't charge me. So even with all that it still cost me 8. :)

Well I had an unexpected (nice, for a change) surprise today:

I wasnt expecting this till around mid November:

    Unboxing:

And found a problem with the second piece:

    The whole kit together:

This is a BEAUTIFUL blue. Im gunna like this on the bike. I made the right choice.

Close ups of the main fairing:

That was the only broken piece. It was a suprise that it was broken, it was packed pretty well. I think they may have taped up the bubble wrap too tight on the tip of that piece. I will be emailing the seller about the issue. All the other pieces are good.

My first impressions of the kit:

-Great Paintwork. There are no real blemishes to speak of on the paint.
-Decals have been cleared over as opposed to stuck on.
-Good news is it has some flex in the pieces, which allows some movement.
-Bad news is it has TOO much flex. I find that the plastic is a little too thin and may be prone to cracking the paint later on. This plastic is definitely Thinner than OEM fairings.
-Alot of flasing from the moulds has bee left behind. This can be cleaned/filed/cut off easily.
-Lack of paint on the inside of the fairing. I will be painting this black for a cleaner look.
-Thin paint. Some of the edges have a small part scraped off. Upon seeing this I scraped off a small part on an unseen edge just to see how easy it would be to scrape off. Very easy.
-Marks on the paint from the bubble wrap. - I think they didnt let the paint dry long enough before packing. But I'm sure that these will wash/buff out.

Overall I am happy on the appearance of the kit. I'll leave full judgement until its on the bike. I believe from other reports that the fitment may need a little working to fit correctly.

I will see tomorrow. I will be doing the swingarm tomorrow & possibly test fitting the fairing. Just need bolts & the windshield (one wasn't supplied).

All in all for 540 landed, I suppose I cant complain. Albiet the kit only cost my 280, with 230 in postage, + exchange rate.

    Getting exciting now!

That blue does look good ..... is the broken piece from the rear side cowling?
Hopefully they will just replace it without any fuss.
Its a shame the shipping is so outrageous on the kit ..... should look pretty slick though :thumb_ups:

OK, so performed a little more work on the fizzer today.

Before (No after. Looks pretty much the same)

Replaced rear sprocket & tidied the rear wheel.

Now here is a little tidbit of info for all those trying to interchange 2KR/3LN parts.

    It probably wont work.

    Story:

So as I mentioned in the OP, I have a spare 2kr as my old bike sitting around for spares, and when I paid for the work to be done, I paid for a new rear tyre. So thinking that I had a new rear tyre, I ran both rear wheels down to the local bike shop (where I bumped into an old mate that I lost contact with) said G'day, had a chat & told him why I was there. "Yeah mate bring 'em round to the service area & I'll get the guys to help you out".

Upon further inspection I found that the 2KR rim is thinner than the 3LN model. BOTH on the front & rear. (Cant remember the difference between them). I digress. The tyre that was on the rear wheel was a FRONT tyre AND is a cruiser. NOT a sports bike tyre. I always thought it looked a little odd. The Service guys said it was not advisable to put that tyre on the wider rim, so my mate gave me a good price on a 130 wide Michelin sports tyre. Fitted balanced & buffed.

Now the plan is to take the "rear" tyre & put it on the front, so I effectively have two brand newies.

I also found the Front sprocket sent was not the right one. It is missing the raised section as can be seen in the photo of the original sprocket:

Also tried to fix the brake light issue, I found the actual switch was sticking on, but it came apart trying to get it out. I put it back together but it still had the same problem & even the one I ripped out of the 2kr has the exact same issue. So I am up for a new one of those. Dunno where I get the from. Need to have a look in those catalogues & track it down.

I have also decided to strip & paint the swing arm when it comes out for the new seals & bearings. Battery acid has stripped away some of the paint & alot of the paint in some places, & with a new fairing, it would look crappy. So I need to track down the colour code & match the paint for the frame/swing-arm.

I also need to tack down one of these. Its the coolant overflow bottle dump line. I was scholastic'd in & the actual grommit that sit on the end of it has gone AWOL as well. Its meant be on the end of this & hold its into this hole.

Need to track down these parts, plus a few fairing bolts, maybe see if I can retro fit a set of "oggy knobs" so that way if the worst should happen , then my new fairing wont get much if any gravel rash.

May also be looking at another tank. Want to keep the original scheme to the side. Even thought I will be putting the main fairing kit up for sale. Mostly to see IF they will sell , & start parting out the other Fizzer of what I cant use.

    That is all for now.

Man that sprocket is very ordinary!
and I think its incorrect .... not your new one ...... I just checked my 2 old ones and they are flat both sides.
Was there a lock tab washer also ?

Ill have a search for my spare coolant bottle but I have a feeling its like yours.

I think also Ive seen those brake switches on ebay ..... albeit from Hong Kong/China but its only a brake switch ! .... Ill get back to u on that one.

That tyre story is just crazy ..... a front on the rear :commando:

Make sure that tyre from the 2KR is not too old .... look for the date of manufacture ......it may have full tread but if its old it may be hard or have cracking/crazing in the sidewall.
    http://2fiftycc.com/index.php?threads/tyre-information.1115/

Ill have a dig for paint codes ..... pretty sure Ive seen them for the FZR1000 , 750 etc and you would think they are all the same especially from the 250 to the 400 for a basic component like frame/swingarm.

Heres a brake switch ....and they are from the UK ...but no doubt made in China anyway

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/YAMAHA-RD12...pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item2ecb12c63a

Sadly my spare coolant setup is the same ..... I would just find a grommet that fits ..... its doesnt actually show 1 on the parts schematic but Id guess it comes as part of the pipe.
I would pull mine out to show u wat it looks like but Id say thats how they break!

Well it's been a week since my last update. I took the girlie & baby to Seaworld because they wanted to on Thursday last week. It nicely coincided well so I didn't have to drive to the Gold Coast just to pick these up:

SIDI Votice Vernice boots. 50th Anniversary commorative boots. Only available as a preorder from the factory. In 2010. They have been work a few times but still in good nick. And at 280 (were 300) they are less that half the price of the normal Vortice RRP price.

At that price I couldn't let them go. Sure that 300. Could have paid for the rego of the bike & put it on the road, but I wanted something blingy. Just have to find the money for rego again. :(

Forgot to mention, the little grommit has gone AWOL. Only have the hose now. Spent ages trying to find it, but I had to actually get on with the rest of the bike.

Ok so just got back from a very productive day parts wise.

Sold some parts from the old 2kr.

Then used that money to buy a Tinted windscreen, 3 "experimental" sprockets, 2 brake switches, another brake lever (non adjustable) and the switch, a couple of fairing bolts, 3 front indicators, another proper fuel pump and a bottom tank bolt (phew!). All for $50.

    Thanks gumtree.

So now AFAIK I have everything bar one or two bolts for the fairing and thus, if the brake light switch works out, it can go on the road once I do the swingarm bushes & bearings.

Now I just need to wait for some garage space from my mate to work on the bike. My date to have it on road was dec 2. But that will be pushed back now :(

Isn't it always that way with bikes, one step forward and 2 steps back but it does sound like there is light at the end of the tunnel, you could be on the final step. Good luck with it.:thumb_ups:

Well time to update I think. Long story short. (And this is the short version)

Over the past few days I have been at the mates place trying to get my fizzer really cracking.

I have decided for the time being to abandon doing the rear swing arm bushes. I am now very impatient to get this on the road. My on road date was Dec 2. Now 4 days ago. But was not able to work on the bike due to my mates son rebuilding his jeep in the garage. I have been working alongside him doing my bike, and helping him out when needed. After re-doing the front sprocket, (used a castleted washer from the old 2kr) it went on like a dream. Since then it has simply been doing odds and ends to put it back together. Brake lights now work as they should, blinkers have been tested, new horn (both old ones were stuffed) Most stuff has been re-installed, just needs a cleanup.

Finally roll around to yesterday when all I needed was another fuel filter & a grommet to fix up the coolant tank overflow line of which I added both in with some unknown improv (will expand in a minute). So it was go time, we added some fresh petrol in & she wouldnt start. Spark, fuel, no go. Turns out that the fuel filter I put in was creating an air lock. Still wouldnt start after removing said filter, and using a cut up bottle for a tank, draining the carb bowls multiple times, giving them a good knock with the handle of a hammer, finally it fires!

    My angry mosquito lives!

So I found out that the fuel pump on the bike is not the standard equipment. And the mounting rubbers that are standard are not there. This was confirmed when I grabbed the old 3ln pump I picked up 2 weeks ago, & the 2KR one and put them side by side:

I noticed that that both the inlet & outgoing lines are bigger than standard. So I went hunting for why This is & how its adapted to the standard smaller line:

    And this is why:

A previous owner has snapped off the inline right behind the carbies.

So after taking out the fuel filter I was left wondering where would it go. Then I stumbled across the Fizzer's photo for carbs on another thread:

    http://2fiftycc.com/index.php?attachments/hoses-2-jpg.5600/

That rubber holder for the fuel pump, fliter & whatever that thing is on the right, ISNT ON MINE! Argh! I saw it on an old frame from the guy I picked up the parts from & he wasn't sure what exactly it was for. Now I bloody well know!

So if I can summon Mr Grey Import to explain what is the go here & another photo to show me where the lines go, and tell me what that black thing is on the opposite side, id be very grateful so that way I can set up mine properly. Also where did you get your fanciful blue fuel lines?

Also been selling some bits & bobs off the old 2KR that is helping to recoup some costs. Almost down to nothing left to sell really.

The bad news is the screen I picked up doesnt fit. It must be from a different model. Doesnt fit my frame, new, old or even 2kr Fairing. It is a fizzer screen, but the bolt holes & just dont line up. So I need to source a mew screen quicksmart. There is a bloke in daisy hill up here that I have contacted on ebay that has some, I will be taking my fairing with me to trial fit it. After I try the other one from the bloke who sold me the tinted one. Also Be grabbing that fuel pump/filter/whatever rubber bracket while I am there too.

Frustrating. Though not as much as GI's Fizzer. Sympathies mate.

The blue lines were from ebay but were a total fail ..... after 6 months they were hard as rock.

My spare carby t-piece was broken like that.

Heres that special pipe that sits in the other part of the rubber pump holder.
I would just use fuel line if u dont have that.... obviously its has a special shape to avoid kinks and sit 'nicely'

    Pump line.jpg

Heres a close up of the pump, filter setup .... and the petcock inlets/outlet

Thanks grey, how did you solve the broken pipe at the carbs issue?

The same way the previous owner did?
