My Box of goodies from Tyga arrived, how amazing is this stuff... its a work of art I also pick up my pistons, rings, gaskets etc on Saturday
If any of you have a spare set of hoses then send them to the Samco manufacturer. Tell him that they are a popular model in Australia. These days a lot of manufacturers are looking to increase their market.
cheers Mark I do have spare hoses but from memory 1 is missing from the set ..... I will inquire first though to see if they are interested in the 3LN ..... as u say there is certainly no shortage of them here. A couple in the set have different diameters on each end which makes them 'unique'
I woke up this morning treated to Breakfast in Bed, which was really nice. After a good old chin wag with my Dad I decided it was time to hit the garage and start stripping the Aprilia and my son joined me to help out. This bike is like an onion, you just keep peeling back the layers.... and to be honest, she is in pretty good nick, I do know it has been sitting, but there no nothing i saw that caused me any great concern. Yes she is a bit dirty, but after 16 years I would expect that. The one thing that really sets my mind at ease is that every nut and bolt on this bike is genuine Aprilia and judging by the cracks when the locktite gave way, I think its safe to assume, that I am the first one in here since she left the factory. What really surprised me is the weird sizes of bolts and nuts used, lots of 7mm and 13mm ( I don't have a 7mm socked in my kit, but I found an old one in the tool box from a Kmart kit I bought when I was 18) which is way different to anything Japanese. Another good sign was when the coolant came out, it was green and there were no nasty's in there. After a couple of hours, Im pleasure to say all the panels, air box, front end, brakes gauge mounts are off, next step is to remove the exhausts, unclip anything electrical and drop the engine out. I also started a list of things to buy as the budget permits Shopping List Chain and Sprockets Tyres Brake Pads Battery Strap Clear Windscreen Plugs Trans oil Castrol TTS Things I have bought and am awaiting to arrive New Indicators Air Cleaner Front Wheel nut Fairing Bolt kit Swing Arm Spools A Few Pics from the tear down
That is great to hear, good job with the photo's also. Well done mate, no better way to spend Fathers day than a play with your favourite toy
Good score,I typo was amused by the 7mm airbox screws. Then grew annoyed when I couldn't find a socket. I have three of these beasts. Very nice bike to ride. Samco hoses are great quality. You can get a little more power by fitting the sp head gasket. Where did you get the fairing bolts from? I used tasty nuts(pro bolt) but they very soft Ali
