    Duct tape?

Sanded back some of my fairings to remove what looked like chalk board paint and went over them with a rattle can and slapped some stickers on so now people might stop asking me what it is.

image.jpg Done a bit more sanding and painting today. I got sick of trying to get them perfect as I figured once the wife starts riding it will probably end up worse than when I got it. I'll have to be up bright and early to put it all back together so I can get to work.

It's satin black with clear coat. It had a nice matte look to it untill the clear coat went on.

clear coat is instant shine.for metallic spray on dry coats and it looks crap. lay on the clears and magic happens.

Yeah I figured that it would go shiny with the clear coat but I wanted to make sure the decals weren't coming off any time soon.

clear over the stickers.for a deeper wet look in the paint before you clear mix colour in the clears and spray then topkote only clear.gives a view of depth. to get even shinier, wet rub with 800 wetndry and then buff. removes dust and imperfections. wait at least a week to do it.

I'm gonna throw a few more coats on to give it a deeper look then rub back with 800 and then 1200. Won't get a chance to rub it back until after I move though.

longer you wait the more thinners will evaporate and the harder the paint will be. add some dishwashing liquid when doing a wet rub and slides better.

Cheers. I'm pretty happy with the way they turned out compared to when I started so I'm in no rush.

Just over a week until the 1st race of the season at Wakefield Park.
Still a bit left to do on the TZR250.
But now the new radiator and Samco hoses are on and pipes back on.
Forks will come off tonight for a rebuild.

After sorting out the rear tray for mounting the electronics (No zipties on this beast!) I realised that the MC18 and MC21 have different stator connectors (well, on is the same but the other is different). And they're also much shorter and wouldn't reach all the way to the rear of the tail. So swapped it over. Oddly enough, the flywheel puller for me CR125 also worked on this. IMG_1475.JPG IMG_1472.JPG

The rear tray is more or less complete. Just need to drill a hole to mount that hanging connector (gear sensoor). Might make another, more refined and tight fitting version.

Also got a 41mm fork clamp for a steering damper so that should be good.
