Carbies back on the Across... it lives... man did it blow some crap out the exhaust...lol Now I got to see why the fan didnt come on when the temp came up... grrr and tune the carbies..
Fixed a failed internal gas hose in my TIG and spent the rest of the day cutting and welding the R4 frame. Maybe I can finish tomorrow and prep it to go for powder coating. But I want to change the rear master cylinder mount to take a standard Brembo so I am sure that will go pear shaped.
I pulled a scooter into more parts than any man should need to - apparently the tank is one of the first parts attached to the frame. It was a bit rusty in the tank, so rattled a few bolts and nuts around and flushed it. It started after a carby clean and reassembly, but will it start again tomorrow?...
Picked up a 1993 cbr250rr , has been in a bingle so the plastics , h bar and gauges are shot , he also lost the key. I plugged in a spare key barrel and she fired up Score
Well I bought myself a folding trailer.... http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Folding-...ZYffzanjjAG%2FH0HJVwc%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc Now I just have to arrange to get it up to Sydney....lol Plus I degreased and pressure washed the Across before re-installing the Air cleaner...
Our head office is near there so hopefully my boss can pick it up and store it for a week or 2 until someone is driving up to NSW.. I am not in a rush to get it... they are rare as Rocking horse droppings up here... One went last weekend with the floor needing replacing, no bike rails or folding jockey wheel for $680... so I did OK.. I think. If all else fails I can re-sell it here and re-coup my outlay
linkin came through newcastle and picked up kwacka zxrc.off to sydney for the apprenticeship.may all go well.i even thought of the green p plate and nylon ties.
I Vic I believe... based on Tare weight.... here it is stupidly $62 Rego and $114 odd Vehicle Tax... plus stamp duty and plate for first rego.... not including CTP. If I need to go get it from Canberra (distinct possibility) I will just get a permit for it.. NSW slugs hard on Rego costs...
bit of a long story, bare with me. I took Friday off as annual leave so I could have a 4 day weekend, kids were ta school so my wife says Lunch up the sporting club, Im like ....okay. I have recently offloaded a few bikes and have a wee slush fund so I grabbed 4 pineapples ($200) and we headed off, we had a few drinks and an awesome steak lunch. After a couple of beers off the tap and we decided to have a punt on the pokies. I am not a gambler, I have been the casino once in 10 years and pokies drive me nuts, but after a few drinks I thought screw it, lets have a crack. I found some machine that was playing old time rock so I fed in a pineapple, it was a mighty 1c machine and I was betting 50c a go, I won some free spins and before I knew it, I was up to about $70, I upped my bet to $1.25 per spin and promptly dropped down to $20, I was about to cash in when I got some weird thing, after hitting the take win, I was up to $140, super stoked. I increased my bet to $2.50 a spin thinking bet big \ win big and again dropped down in the low $40's before hitting a big one, I was up to $225 and was on fire, by this time I was on my 6th schooner with a decent glow and upped the ante to $5 per spin , next thing I know I'm heading towards $400 , I played a few more times and cashed in at $350. Im at the bar waiting for my wife when my phone beeped, I have an e-mail alert setup for CBR's and there was a crashed one about 10kms from home, the ad had no phone number given so I messaged him and said I would take it. About 10 mins later the ad was taken down, I thought ****, how quick do you have to be ? Anyway, I received a call this morning from some guy with an accent, he asked if I buy his CBR, the penny dropped it was the one from Friday, I headed over, paid $200 for it and went home, it has been binned , the gauges are buggered, every panel is shot, needs tyres etc.. not sure what I am going to do, I'm thinking another track bike... dunno I hooked up some jumper leads and she fired right up and it had been sitting for a year. The CBR gods have smiled upon me. But after my Pokie win, this CBR costs me $50 and I got beers and a free lunch
They tell me there's no such thing as a free lunch, @kiffsta, so the CBR must have been free and you bought lunch and beers.. I feel like @Tim_ looking at your fortunate happenings and my less fortunate happenings. But it could also be that you look before you buy, pay less than I do, and sell smarter than I do - smarter more than luckier. P.S. the scooter started yesterday and today, but I'll need an electric choke.
I think its the quick and the dead when it comes to buying bargains on ebay, facebook and gumtree, I am always looking. I have e-mail alerts set up so its not quite luck that gets them, its more a system that has evolved over time. Also being involved in this community has its advantages, I often get calls from people who know people who ask, are you that Kiffsta guy from 2fifftycc.com, my mate says you buy bikes and I have this bike I want to sell, so I get some that way as well. Almost always I have to make an offer before looking at it, this is the nature of the game, you have be prepared to put up or you miss out. I often jump in the van at 9pm to get a bike so I don't miss out. In saying that, when I do make a blind offer, I do try and buy smart such as buying bikes that I know people want parts for or its something I want to play with. Sometimes you get lemons, so I pull them down for parts.
I can walk around the shed and spot parts from most of the bikes I've had. Not sure if it is hoarding or poor housekeeping, though.
Haha.. yes... and not just bikes... pretty much everything I have owned at some stage... and I always find it after I no longer need it
