What started out as getting a motor to use in another project, seems to have a couple of steps too far... It started with wet blasting the engine cases (shout out to @kiffsta ). A year later I finally assembled the engine and thought "what if I just make it a YZ250, again?" So the obvious next step was to tidy-up the frame. Usually I do something half-about, but this time I tried a little better. Too much better, me's think: $240 for sandblasting and powder coating was a bit more expensive than I'd like, but when it came back looking better than my cheap phone can capture, I committed myself to a full build. This is going to get expensive! New steering, wheel and suspension bearings, fork and shock serviced, chain and sprockets, brake pads, brake rebuild kits, air filter, seat cover, plastics, graphics kit... Oh, I think I might be giving myself depression going through the list. What are organs going for these days?
I have a KX 250, it needs work, but I like it. I do also have another YZ250, and a KTM 250, and.. well, there's lots of options. But I'd be worried if I kept it then I wouldn't treat it properly. I need a rough bike to treat rough. At least until I learn to ride better. Might make it a show piece at work while selling it.
Now I don't have the KX, or the other YZ, and selling the KDX200. Might have to keep this YZ. Just no time or money for it, yet.
How things have changed! Except for this bike. I might have to get a bit done to it. I've got big plans for it, but I've always got big plans... Just need to sell the CBR to fund this one
Well, sold the CBR, and the YZ 125, but there was an intermediate plan: I finally built the bike. In 2 weeks it went from a motor sitting (not bolted) in a frame, to this weapon! Sold the 125 with about 2 weeks to race day, so I had find and motivation. But the boss helped take it from "it runs, but looks like a dirty, OLD ag bike" to a race bike. Now it has been tested, time to modify it... Stay tuned.
It got a new (secondhand) tank, and got used.... The other tank split like someone checked the fuel level using a match to see in the tank! P.S. that's my house on the right, with the sea views. Bit flash for a poor boy like me.
