Dodgy diaphragms ..... Worn needles and emulsion tubes ....... Remnants of an O ring ..... Threebond + ultrasonic ..... Slow progress .....
Well done mate, your looking good. Are your diaphragms damaged ie holed or can they last a bit longer. You've got the table set, who's coming to dinner.
..... the other end of the table is set for the "before" guests One of the main reasons for the rigid organisation is that #2 & 3 carbs are jetted differently than the outside two. Im hoping out of 8 diaphragms I can salvage 4 that can be used...... love a new set but apart from being near impossible to find they are extremely expensive. Luckily the spare carbs have had bits ,like the needles , in far better condition than off the runner carbs...... but sadly the spare diaphragms have been out sitting in a box for a long time Id say. I have to buy a new set of pilot jets and a set of tubes.....as there isnt a matching set of 4 or 4 that arnt stuffed.
What are your carbs(brand). The jetting for 2&3 is for heat reasons. Some bikes had water cooled carbs for that very reason. The reason for the question on carbs and diaphragms is that I have a spare one in not to bad a condition. If you can measure yours and let me know, speak soon. P.S. Trust you are using Lite Tek seals??????
But of course! ..... just waiting on the full kit being available Carbs are Mikuni BDST28 Diaphragm : outer diameter 60.5mm inner diameter 26mm height 22.5mm thanx mate
Sorry mate, mine are outer 71mm, inner 30mm, height is same as yours at 22.5mm. My carbs are Mikuni bst33ss. Hey worth a try.
Thanx mate .... they are probably the next step up and I think 38s are more the norm as thats what usually comes up when I do any googling.
hi grey i see you had and extra motor with your spares? whould you consider selling it if nothing is wrong with it? please let me know urgently please.
Sorry Graham but I dont know if its a runner or not and I plan to rebuild it anyway as a backup/replacement for the current bike or to rebuild the 'spares' bike.
Progress Finally got this bastard off .... thanks to the $39.47 Ozito from Bunnings And a little parcel from Mr Green this morning ...... Not cleaned in 24 years?
Hey Mr Grey, I sent you an email about the needle jets. Wasn't there some discussion about the Hyosungs, or some such, using Mikuni BDST28 and therefore diaphragms could be sourced from them? NRP in the UK list diaphragms as out of stock. http://www.nrp-carbs.co.uk/shop/index.php?route=product/product&keyword=fzr250&product_id=1499 They could be worth asking about needle jets also. cheers Blair
Also from Hirochi shop in Japan. I have bought from them in the past. Quite prompt and shipping is not too expensive. http://translate.google.com/transla...3ln-14141-28.html&prev=/search?q=3LN-14141-28 As I recall, you can pay by PayPal but you will have to email them first.
Thanx for all the info.... Ive been sending off emails to various places re the tubes but some just dont answer. Heres one from Tom Hatrick though ... Sorry not available through factory outlets. Yamaha only From what I could find Hyosungs use BST26 carbs.
Factory Pro : Not at this time - To make them, I'd need to sell 50 pcs at $25 each. You want to sell that many? Because if you do, I will make them. Marc
Re the FactoryPro reply Well if you are going to ask the customer to absorb the cost of production then you should be offering the customer a damn good price. Because once there finished you can add that to your product line. To be done correctly they need to be turned on a cnc machine and it is only the initial costs of coding that needs to be covered. Secondly, assuming the code already exists to make mikuni needle jets, it is a trivial matter to alter it for the slightly different dimensions. And yes I have programmed CNC machines using G-Code and they are dead simple. Not that this helps you much, Mr Grey.
