thanx.....yea some things need replacing but mostly its just a bit of spit and polish and some paint here and there......and sorting all the POs misdemeanors
This is looking fantastic! Can't wait to check out the finished bike always had a softspot for the fizzers.
Have got most of the replacement parts I needed now and just need to do a bit more cleaning and painting....then some major reconstruction can go ahead..... It has to be up and running by mid Jan or the rego will be lost.
a quick tip. to help get rid of the rust with *ZERO* elbow grease. sit the parts in a small air tight container full of normal clear vinegar. buy it in 2 litre bottles at woolies for about $1.50 per litre, just the homebrand stuff, nothing flash. vinegar is a mild acid and eats rust. i have cleaned up many bolts etc, by dropping them in a tupperware container for 24-48 hours, remove them, wipe over with a rag, and they look like new again. works a treat everytime
Yea the nuts and bolts are the biggest pain to get shiny....I should have thought of vinegar as Ive done brass taps and pipes back to shiny new (especially from soap scum) soaking in it overnight. Thanx mate...Ill give it a go as Ive got alot of them to do for reassembly...and Ive been wire wheeling them which is a PIA...! ;D
+1, thats come up really well, did you paint it then sand it off on the exposed areas or was it masked ?
yea just cleaned it up and shined up the lettering ,masked the holes/rubber boot etc and sprayed with caliper paint and then scraped off the paint on the Brembo with a sharp knife  Hard to get a decent pic.... it looks much "better" with the eye And anything would look better than how it was !! I didnt bother with a kit for it....the boot was sealed on this one (as opposed to the one on the running bike which was loose and full of rust) so Ill see how it performs and deal with it later as I have too many other things to spend money on and get sorted......and it is only the rear brake
