I installed the new cam chain tensioner in the ZXR - almost forgot to release it! That may have made me cry if jumped a tooth. Other than that, in the past few weeks I've only ordered a couple of parts. Just not getting anything done. I gave my WR(YZ)250F to a mate, the deal was let him pull it down and see if it is worth him going any further - missing some parts, so it is worth more parting it, but we'll see if he will build the bike first.
Outstanding work, please post them in "The Garage" so it doesn't get lost in this post and others can enjoy it. cancel that, I see you have already done it.
got the old 750 in fine fettle for a long ride starting in morning and heading west.wonder if i can bring rain?
I picked up my ZXR. Off the ground, because someone pushed it over. They wouldn't have known it was my bike, or what day of the week it was, or much else of reality... Turned out that the rearset was also damaged, as I found out when I went to ride home and the footpeg fell away when I went to use it. Luckily I have some more. But a real shame about the paint and cracked fairings, especially considering I was trying to sell it. Oh well, spilt milk.
I don't think she did, either. My workplace is area with, well let's just say, people struggling with life. It's sad to see, and it seems to be a growing issue in our society.
Done valve clearance on the zxr and now it's sadistically rattly and won't run again other then when alot of easy start is used . Much like the last time when an idle jet was clogged but now it is clear and still won't have it I am at a loss now everything is as it should be Sent from my Redmi 5 Plus using Tapatalk
Don't you hate that. The rattle is a worry, how's the cam chain tensioner? Double check the timing and valve clearances. The rattle could just be unbalanced charges in the cylinders because you have a carby issue. Did you prime the carbies? How long since it was running?
The tensioner seems all good but as far as I know there's no real spec , the timing is good it I've checked and checked and checked . Didn't check clearances that was silly of me and I'd say it was 2~3 weeks between in running but I did prime the carbs and everything . Always something to ruin the mojo Sent from my Redmi 5 Plus using Tapatalk
If the bike was running ok before the valves were adjusted and now it’s not, go back and check valves again. Make sure the piston is at top dead centre on the cylinder your working on. It’s quire easy to make an error when using flywheel marks exclusively. Just gently drop a long screwdriver down spark plug hole and turn the engine over slowly by hand. Very easy to find top dead centre that way, then check flywheel mark, then check manual. If the Kawasaki manual is as horribly written as the Honda Spada japenglish it’s a wonder anyone ever gets these adjustments correct.
Just finished fixing this old girl up , been parked for 8 years , fitted a new fuel pump, Replaced a fuse , swapped out a broken tail fairing and fitted some spare tyres I had in the shed , can’t believe it only has 19000 kms on clock. Should I keep it or sell it , heart said keep it. Back says come on man, you are 45 and you still remember the gsxr750 and Daytona 675 and what they did to your back
I've the carbs off after work today I'll put them back together hopefully they'll work and I'll check to see how tdc is , the outer two cylinders seem to suck alot harder then the middle two when it's cranking . Unfortunately it's not running again so when it is I'll post a video thanks guys Sent from my Redmi 5 Plus using Tapatalk
Well I decided to try to balance the carbs in the ZXR, all that effort to find out they weren't even that bad. But I tried to adjust the idle mixture screw, and 2hours later... I had it back together. Carbs off so I could adjust the mixture screws, re-sync carbs, reassemble the bike and put the other bikes away (I was at work). But not sure I didn't make it worse. Sigh. I am not a fan of carbies. Mind you, my fuel injected bike needs tuning, too. And there is a lot of gearbox/clutch rattle. A problem for another day.
Mine had that, thought it was the clutch, it wasn't. New rings, overhaul carbs and balanced to an inch of its life, it still rattled. I suspected broken rang on water pump / oil pump shaft, never split the motor to confirm.
