Yea the problem is the diaphragm and the slide come as 1 unit = expensive ...... same on the Fizzer BDST if u get the Yamaha part..... luckily though I found a Suzuki part diaphragm that was (I think) like $11 from the dealer here.
Leave it with me and Ill see if I can track down just the rubber.

legend, - FYI i did call the big Suzuki parts shop in SA and he said he personally had none, and Suzuki AUS has just 1 in stock :(... problem is, if i buy two of them to solve the issue at such a high price, this cafe racer im building will go way over budget and i might find myself in the red.
so yeah, the rubber is all i need  thanks for looking out for me Grey!
would hate to sell such a nice bike to a new rider with a simple, annoying issue :help:

Ordered a Honda toolkit for Scarlet. Turns out several models from that era came with very similar ones, so I got one from a 750 that is almost identical.

It's the one from the following models:

    CB750C 80-82
    CB750F 77-78
    CB750K 79-82
    OEM part number 89010-410-000.

It seems to have one extra item that is easy enough to put in with my other tools to give the kit some authenticity! :)

Considering the final mechanical touches are just tuning and the final electrical work is "get the indicators working", I figured it was time to concentrate on some of the cosmetic and practical aspects :lolsign:

Took Nix for a naughty ride around the block after having another go at fixing the seat. Found the right front indicator was missing the plastic when I got back, so retraced my route on the KLR looking for it.

Unfortunately I found it after it was run over and couldn't even find enough bits to glue back together, so there goes the $27.30 I spent on the UVP. This indicator itself works but I highly doubt it'll get anything but DANGEROUS - NOT TO BE DRIVEN on a rego inspection.

I was planning to ride her to work tomorrow - don't like my chances of not getting pulled over if there's even one cop on the way there though!

If the local wreckers or the local Kawasaki dealer have replacements I might be ok - will call in the morning I guess. Not holding my breath though.

Not sure if I can be defected/fined while on a UVP if I am on my way to get repairs/replacement parts and the vehicle is otherwise safe?

    Follow-up from last night's post -

I jury-rigged a passable indicator last night with the parts of the indicator lens I was able to retrieve, epoxy and bits of a translucent orange plastic box.
I put masking tape over it to make sure it wouldn't fall off on the way to work and called the local bike wreckers - they said they had a new replacement one for $59.95. Despite this being a bit more than I wanted to spend, I organised an extra-long lunch break to pick up and fit it and get the rego inspection done.

After finally riding Nix for a an extended period this morning I discovered 2 things:

    1) The rear suspension is terrible and will probably at least need adjusting.

    2) Either the 20W-50 oil I spilt last night while topping her up has thinned when the engine has heated up or I have a major oil leak. If the latter, hopefully it's only something simple like a loose sump plug!

After heading out during lunch in increasingly heavy rain, I found that the local bike wreckers didn't have a new one after all (for which they apologised) but they did find me a second-hand one. They also helpfully pointed out that the left one was faded and let em know they had those as well if I needed one.

The second-hand indicator was only $15 so I asked if they'd have the tank mounting bolts I was missing as well. Got the lot for $20, went for the Rego Inspection and passed with only an advisory on the left indicator!

I'll update the build thread this evening once I get home. :D

Ouch! Apparently Nix and and I disagree about the way a motorcycle should be ridden. I thought they were supposed to be vertical, but she apparently wanted to be horizontal. :aggressive::oops:

The right mirror is trashed and the fairing suffered a fair bit but ironically the replacement indicator is fine!

Oh well, at least I walked away from it and was still able to ride her home with nothing more than a couple of bruises and I already have the roadworthy certificate.:crazypilot:

Pics of the damage will be blogged and in the build thread later tonight.

Picked up a spare tail light, seat and rear cowling for my cb250 off gumtree for $50 from a guy that had customised his bike- the seat is great (mine had a small tear), the tail light too (mine had a crack in the lens).
The tail unit isn't great but at least I have something to use if I get mine repaired.
I feel like a massive tightass looking for bargains but 3 kids, a mortgage and a wife that doesn't understand bikes makes you appreciate the little victories.
