Pinned So what have you done to your bike today?

They were all excellent. I was between turn 10 and 11 but next year I might spend big unless my friend gets some corporate passes. There was way way too many people sleeping or lying down during the Moto2 and Moto3 races. The Island was much better than Catalunya I thought too.

 

changed the tappet cover gasket on bruiser the old 750 honda ready for sawtell. will fettle it on thursday with a little blat.

 

I rebuilt my cousin's Yamaha Blaster 200 for him. Just the top end. It had a broken ring and the piston was chipped too. Amazingly the cylinder and head were still in serviceable condition. The carburetor was insanely dirty too. The pilot jet was completely blocked (I had to get thin wire to push the gunk out) and there was a layer of grime on everything. It's a wonder the bike still ran.

I started to fix the brakes too. It has drum brakes on the front, and a cable disc brake on the rear. So in other words, the worst kind of brakes for a bike with quite a bit of power now. So tomorrow's job is to try and make them actually stop the bike and have the ability to lock the wheels.

Well i wanted to strip weight like all hell but not make it look too hacked apart so a bit custom work is done to give it a cafe/streetfighter look. It will take shape soon.

Yea the goal is to make it look legit not like i have missed a step. Original was to heavy looking.

 

Ive got an 81 CB 250 with similar wheels, they were supposed to be **** hot in the day, super light & strong, riveted magnesium I think, why the tricky wheels is a mystery for such an ordinary bike.
Looks like fun, keep up the good pictures as you go along.
Your on the right track, power to weight is the best way to improve performance, just keep the chassis as stiff as you can.

 

Mystery indeed they are strange wheels. I will be reviewing the build in the next week as i only get 1-2 afternoons to work on it. Will post up some more pics then.
I will keep that in mind tacking the tail loop back on to pre load a bit on the chassis

 

Well lots going on, house renovations take up all of my time at the moment, can't ride that !
But I did get a new compressor to make sandblasting a pleasure, no more waiting for the pressure to catch up.

 

packed the bike and off to tamworth to meet up and ride to sawtell.

 

Wow that would most definitely blast some sand.
my brother has just got himself a new compressor 300l/pm it does great blasting on a 5mm nozzle keeps constant pressure

 

rode the ring off old bruiser in the last 4 days. i think i saw 160 but a cop car had his brakes on at another place when i was doing 85.no fines/no camers flashes so all goodand no gravel rash.skies now black and thunder and rain so nicely timed.

 

degreased the bike, washed it....stripped the fairings off and repeated it all over again......airbox off and cleaned out and filter cleaned and oiled. fluids draining currently.....

 

Well after covering 1132K's over the weekend, decided to get GERNI out and clean up some road grim.
Cleaned the disc's with some metho....very dirty, sub frame was next. Bike looks tidy again
Next task is to tackle my bikes drinking problem ???

 

went to sydney and bought a used 3 bike trailer= then when home took the cbx out on its first club run to harry,s cafe de wheels.bike went well and hope no camera fine as rta camera car in the dark.

 

you thinking of a fancy exhaust for the cbx.

 

already has a 6 muffler pipemaster stainless steel system on it and does it howl and cackle on the over run.also have the original system and a spare set of wheels. have just bought a factory workshop manual from 1979 and waiting on a rickman luggage rack from pommyland.is getting expensive.

 

the 6 cyl motors sound ridiculous sure the 6 pipe system sounds awesome.

put in a new cam chain, clutch and brakes today. Clutch is shuddering when taking off slow, no idea why. The new springs were also 2mm longer than stock.
