G'day all, need help / info, as to telling a genuine 1996 250rr cbr22 from Japan from a copy. I'm new to small bore rockets and need to know more, or where I can purchase info to this bike. Any help is gratefully received. lap 67.
As far as I know, there is no such thing as a 1996 MC22 and there are no copies. If you have 1996 on the compliance plate attached to your bike, that was the date that the compliance plate was fitted in Australia. The information on the compliance plate is meaningless.
1996 was the last year of build Honda CBR250 inline 4 was grey imported but also sold as a normal dealer bike in Australia up till 2000 Put up a photo of the compliance plate
The following will tell you which year it was built. Lack of gull arm is a dead giveaway for the single R variety. Intake/exhaust would be others if you know what to look for as far pre 94 versions (45 vs 40hp 94-96) CBR250R(J) : 1988; Engine Number : MC14E – 1000001~ Frame Number : MC19 – 1000001~ CBR250R(K) : 1989; Engine Number : MC14E – 1000001~ Frame Number : MC19 – 1000001~ CBR250RR(L) : 1990 – 1991; Engine Number : MC14E – 1140001~ Frame Number : MC22 – 1000001~ CBR250RR(N) : 1992 – 1993; Engine Number : MC14E – 1140001~ Frame Number : MC22 – 1050001~ CBR250RR(R) : 1994 – 1999; Engine Number : MC14E – 1400001~ Frame Number : MC22 – 11000
G'day mate, the numbers you posted are helpful. Can you have a look at my frame and engine numbers and see what you think, Frame : MC 22-1101494 ENGINE : MC14E-1401499 MARCH 1996. Would appreciate any help. Thanks Lap67.
Do you have access to the bike? If so, could you take a picture of the compliance plate? That's would make it a lot easier to know what bike you have in front of you. There is often a date when the bike was built (very important), and another date when it passed compliance check (not important at all). Because the frame says MC22, there is a very good chance you have an Australian delivered model there.
And this is why I asked for a photo of the compliance plate in my first post It looks to be an "Australian" model And heres an extract from the PPSR check .... always the first thing to do when buying anything Heres the correct government website for anyone else as there are many third party sites that charge alot more than $2 https://www.ppsr.gov.au/?gclid=CjwK...XPSCCrCO1a0jPEmc9lxoCvnEQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
Thanks mate, you went to a lot of trouble to help out, I really thank you very much. I was aware that the bike was R/R off, but they done such a good job to get it through Lic., I had to buy. All the damage cosmetic mostly, levers , foot peg, mirror only other casualty's. A Happy bike is a Loved bike. LAP67.
As GreyImport mentioned above, it's an ADM (Australian Delivered Model), which are from mid 1996 to 1999. You should pay special attention when ordering parts related to the carburettor and a few of the electrical components, as they are different to the 1990-1993 models. The specs are the same for the 1994-1999 models in regards to carburettor, in 96 the ADM got a few changes regarding headlight/indicators, since they were built for the Australian market. But most other parts are the same, 90 to 99.
Thanks Mate, I sort of had the feeling it was OK . I've learnt a lot from you guys, I thank you all for the help. LAP67.
