Nice. Always liked the look of the older GSXRs - a mate had a 600 in the Corona Alstare scheme which looked awesome. Definitely a 'bigger' bike compared to the newer breed of 600s, but they have the same sort of appeal to me as the TL1000R. Are you planning to fit up a braced swingarm and USD forks off a 750 if you come across any cheapish?

Perhaps, I've been told that the 750 swingarm is a cheap and worthwhile upgrade, and there are heaps of standard and aftermarket fork bits available... I'll have to ride it a bit first to see what if anything needs to be done... but for now, everything stays stock standard.

I had new pilot road 4's put on today. After adjusting the front & rear suspension, and having the correct profile front, it's a lot more comfortable to ride than when I initially got it. Rear end was far too high.

Today I got off my bum and put the spark plugs in. Thanks again Risky.

First up... When I first took the rear cowl off I wondered "What is this strange piece of rod for?" - Here is the answer. I wish my previous Yamahas had this, it makes working on it so much easier when you don't have to balance a hammer/socket extension/screw driver between the fuel tank and airbox.

Found a K&N air filter which was clean for once, and just needed re-oiling.

First casualty of age found. This is an air/vacuum line of some sort coming from the air solenoids (look up SRAD - suzuki ram air direct) going to the airbox, luckily before the air filter.

Bodged with some cloth tape until I can replace it.

Now - let's play a game. It's called "Are you smarter than a Suzuki engineer?" - Spot what's missing...

Funnily enough the bike had iridiums of the correct type in there, but were hardly finger tight. They look OK so will keep them for spares. New ones in and torqued up to the correct spec.

If you can't guess what's missing on that carb pic... there should be some velocity stacks there. Here's a pic of the R6 carbs for comparison.

OK... did some more digging... what I have is a GSXR 600 (V) model, and the carbs on them do not have velocity stacks, whereas the others do. One less thing to fix :D

Picked up the parts I ordered from the Suzuki dealer and got busy.

New foam padding on the airbox where it meets the ram air tubes

New air control tube for the ram air solenoids and shiny new clip included :)

Why you should check all rubber parts on an old bike... this old control tube looks fine yes?

    Guess again...
