Sorry... no 250cc bikes in this report. Let me know if you wana come next year... Riding , drinking, behaving badley.. repeat.... Hey guys, getting hard to organise a ride that everybody here can attend, but we got a crew together and went for a ride .... here a some pics and notes on last week's ride. From there rode to Crookwell via Trunky Creek, turned right before Crookwell and rode to Boorowa, had lunch there, few beers. From there... Harden, Jugiong (pub closed..ggrrr) and onto Tumut Bathurst Boorowa
Tumut... we met up with Fisso (S1000XR) and Randall (KTM orange 1290 thing) had many drinks... Heapy didn't get the trout.... After a pissy night at Tumut and some breakfast we set off for Tallangatta via Tumbarumba and Jingellic... onto Mitta Mitta, Omeo, Mt Hotham to Harrietville. Jingellic Mitta Mitta Glen Valley... 2 days ago Set off early from Boorowa at n 7am, Cowra, Bathurst, Lithgow, Sydney via Bilpin, Dobbo went through Wisemans Ferry to get back to Newcastle Boorowa Bathurst
good effort for 5 days riding. it was 32 degrees C every day. Great to catch up with some of the boys. I gave the gsxr750 a flogging, it performed flawlessly, the $3000 worth of suspension work at Shock Trreatment really paid off, that bike was planted to the road the whole time. I swapped bikes with Wardy for the run back over Towonga Gap, That Ducati Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak is insanely good, goes around corners like its on rails, most comfortable seat every, stupid amount of power!! Ride one if you get the chance. before...... after... Metzler M9's performed well, wore evenly, few slides from melting them powering out of corners in 2nd....... backed off and rolled out in 3rd to combat that a few times.... offerings from the trip.... Lloyd (7) testing bike.... That's all folks.. Will try and do this again next year... anyone keen let me know. Probably be first week of March.
Nice ride and write up. My partner and I stayed in the Boorawa pub last spring when we went to visit her relies that live in the area. Food was great but the room so so and the shower dismal. Will go somewhere else next time.
Several years ago I went with a group, we rode down from Sydney down Snowy Mountains Highway, Towonga Gap and that road by the lake to Tumbarumba. The following day we did Mt. Hotham and Omeo Highway and back to Tumbarumba. It was 750KM+ in a day and my ZXR250 was screaming above 10,000rpm for the majority of the time, sometimes teaching those on larger bikes a lesson about corner speed. It was not all smooth sailing as there was a car stopped on a blind corner, I ran off into the dirt but no real damage and no injury. The same could not be said for my mate later in the day in the middle of Omeo Highway, he overcooked it big time and lowsided at high speed. His CBR954 took down 3 trees and ripped the entire front end off the bike completely, snapping the steering head and brake lines. Two broken legs and a broken arm. All of the emergency services attended, and he got a helicopter ride to Melbourne. He was lucky we were in VIC as everything medical was covered via TAC (VIC version of CTP, government run though and same cost for all vehicles). He was very lucky not to be dead, and had a very long recovery, but he is back on bikes again. The helicopter also knocked over my ZXR onto the opposite side that I put it down on earlier in the day.
yeah that toilet shower setup is different..... , there is a single door closable shower on the left as you enter, but if you didn't know you would think it was another toilet. Rooms and showers ok for dirty, drunk/hungover motorcycle riders. Balcony tops for drinking n smoking...
I came off my K1300R in 2018 at Falls Creek..... dirty inside corner... lowside and slid for 10+ metres before going over the edge, ankle was hyperextended and fractured ankle, tore the ligament and some bone off the other side. only think that saved my leg getting ripped clean off was the BMW HP pegs I had on it are fixed, not fold up spring loaded pegs, so the bike slid down the road on the peg and I went off another direction.. and yeah TAC paid for everything, including 80% of my income for 5 months recovery. Tricky roads to ride fast, need 100% of your attention. The guys loved the sound of me thrashing the 750.
