I thought it would be good to keep track of these. If you find a credible one please post it and I will update this first post. If the engine is on the limiter then the bike might be able to pull taller gearing and therefore a higher top speed. Honda: 2019 CBR250RR - 181 kph - not on limiter Suzuki: 1989 GSX-R250RR(k) 188kph 2017 Suzuki GSXR250R 139 kph - 129kph on GPS - could be on limiter Kawasaki: 1990 ZX250R 188kph - not even close to redline 2020 ZX-25R 194kph Yamaha: FZR250 3LN3 190 kph - not on limiter

Should it be on limiter for top-speed? Or at power-peak? I can see using redline for highest torque for acceleration. Top-speed is determined by max-power. Tip from some guys I know with speed-records at Bonneville.
The original post didnt specify that it had to be on the limiter... just that if it was then potentially more speed could be had with a change in gearing. Top speed is related to RPM... if it cant hit the limiter (max safe RPM) in top gear then it doesnt have sufficient power to get there and where the RPM are constant and speed is constant that will be TOP SPEED... there are a whole lot of other factors that need to be taken into account such as drag, altitude, gradient, weight of the rider, relative humidity (related to drag), tyres (size, construction and rubber compound) and the list goes on.... Top speed will be where the speed doesnt keep climbing... regardless of being on the limiter or not, as shown on the video's above.
I had my Malaysian ZXR250C at 210km/h indicated... not on the limiter because the aftermarket TCI removed it
Kawasaki ZXR250R - 188 kph Gearing commander shows 189.5kph @ 16200rpm https://www.gearingcommander.com/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?reload=9&v=pH6BeQg4r7U
Not on subject as there's no video grrrr.. but as standard Fzr and Gsxr were at 115 and 117.5mph back in 94 on used examples.. pics to match and provided by Performance Bikes via timing strip(accurate ish) .. think that equates to 184 and 188kph if my maths at divide by 5 and times by 8 is right!! I know a man who knows a man who knows a guy who took a Gsxr250 out though and it went beyond the mark of K on the speedo.. real GPS of 197km/h.... !! Interesting read on the road test, if anyone wants it blown up let me know!
About to start a thread on flywheels gj73 a.. and options as there impossible to find.. can the mods move it to a thread on its own.. cheers si
