well i didn't have enough time to ride the head gasket was blown over two of the cylinders, but now i have been sent a 3ln 3 motor. will the cdi in the 3ln1 ruin the engine or should i get the 3ln 3 cdi, and any other things that i need to do before the bike can go road side
Hey Fergus I have a NEW head gasket for the FZR in my garage. CDI are a different part number from 3ln1 to 3ln3 but most likely compatible
yea i was thinking the same, i'll run it past the guys in the yamaha dealer first, on a 3ln-3 does it still have max reves at 18k ? the cost cutting inbetween the models might mean different cams ect. the new engine has had a top end rebuild so i'd like to keep it that way.
Yes, has the same max revs, HP, etc. It was only the 3LN6,7 that had lower HP. May have been a slight timing change or similar. I would use the old one.
well now the only problem with this new engine is that its oil light is on, another reason why i can't test the bike, im having serious trouble with bad luck. and its not an electrical problem just wondering if oil senders break all the time
The FZR only has a LEVEL sensor, not Pressure. Check that it has enough oil, I.E. half way up the viewing glass when the bike is held up vertical.
I the different engines have different oil pressure sensors - and they work in reverse - so if your oil light goes off you have a problem. I found the same thing when I put a 3ln-3 into a 3ln-1. I just put up with it. Cheers Simon
