    Afternoon, my thermostat has failed so I am on the hunt for a new one, does anyone know the part number preferably aftermarket for it?

    The rad cap off of an '89 Honda Civic is apparently a direct swap; go to the local car parts shop with the rad cap in hand and see what they can offer.

    Nah not the radiator cap but the thermostat (heat activated valve).

    *sigh* Shhh ... sleeping ... <!-- s:zzz: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_sleeping.gif" alt=":zzz:" title="Sleeping" /><!-- s:zzz: -->

    The part number is 46X-12410-00-00; it was used on the FZR400s and 600s, so any Yamaha dealer should be able to get it in. It's bloody expensive, though - US$48!

    Now why that didn't come up has me buggered, I went through pages of topics relating to thermostats but not one that had a replacement.

    Thanks Dave.

    Ok so I went and tried out the above thermostat and you have to actually file a fair bit out of the thermostat housing to make it fit which I don't intend to do so I will see what the thermostat is like in my spare bike before going off to yamaha to spend $70 on a new one (priced it today).
